Ellie replied to AngieMel's discussion 'Thyroid Cancer, Renal Failure, Pancreatitis... Oh My!' in the group VICTOZA
"I was told I wouldn't see any effects at the 0.6 dose I was first prescribed, but with the metformin and a tiny bit of glyburide to fight off dawn phenomenon, the very first day on my low dose my readings were wonderful, like no diabetes,…"

Ellie replied to AngieMel's discussion 'Thyroid Cancer, Renal Failure, Pancreatitis... Oh My!' in the group VICTOZA
"I think the risk is pretty low or nonexistent in reality in comparison with the risks of high blood sugar. But I'm surprised that your doc prescribed Victoza as a first med, as it is newer and thus more untested, and also not generic, and so…"

"Thanks, don't feel so nuts. LOL I just didn't get it why this stuff that was supposed to be the best solution (and I don't mind injecting) was worse than bad!"

"Sam, thanks for the explanation. I didn't know that, had only heard that insulin is the best answer, for both types. But it sure wasn't for me, at least at this point."

Ellie replied to chrissi's discussion 'Help! Sugar just won't come down :('
"Sam, I'm not trying to be snotty, I was actually desperate and planning in my head that I would not be living too long since even insulin (which of course SHOULD be the answer) did not work. If it had just not taken me low enough I could have…"

Ellie replied to Robbo's discussion 'New Levemir Insulin User - Many Questions'
"David, thanks for your response. I had never heard of anyone else having the response I did to both Lantus and Levimir, and I was so depressed that even insulin was not helping me that I was mentally putting my affairs in order, assuming I'd…"

Ellie replied to Robbo's discussion 'New Levemir Insulin User - Many Questions'
"Rob, I hope the levimir works for you. For me it did absolutely absolutely nothing, until late in the afternoon when I would crash totally. Everyone here talks about how insulin is the way to go, but it wasn't for me, and my doc wouldn't…"

Getting Started

I'm not sure how people find out about blogs or blog posts, but I'll give this a try. I really do want to start some conversation, but I want to be able to share fairly in depth if I need to about my story, so I'll try this. I also thought about just starting a forum discussion on some of my issues and concerns, but I'll try this first.

Part of my issues is that I really don't have time to be doing this. I feel always pressed for time, even though I work from home and so don't have… Continue

Ellie, I just read your blog and my heart aches for you. I know that desperate feeling as I am new to this whole diabetes thing. I too have many obstacles with back problems ( 4 surgeries and rods and pins t10 down) I suffer from pain all the time as well as knee replacements, plates and screws in my feet to preserve the bones so I can walk and an up and coming hip replacement. It all becomes over whelming at times. I hear that in your voice. ellie by no means am I an expert on this whole thing, but I do know that we have to dig deep and try and put the depression and negative feelings somewhere else so we can handle the task at hand ( diabetes). We can all concure this in some way with the help of our friends and prayer. You sound as if you need to just get your respiratory heath healed so you have the energy to takle the rest. Take it one thing at a time and try to get back on track with your diet. I have found that that is such a major part of this whole control thing, along with the insulin or pills. I have faith that you will whether this storm and get back on track as you know what the problem is. Now it is just a matter of implementing the knowledge you have. take it a meal at a time and by the end of the day you find that you didn't do so bad. Fight those cravings with a nice cup of tea and figure out the next step. I will have you in my prayers today Ellie as I truly understand the anxiety you feel

Hi Ellie, I would love to speak with you more about spirituality. I have been shunned lately by some people and it is hard to explain my belief system. I getting really frustrated with people and need to connect with someone that can relate.

Welcome to the site. Nothing like a picture at the Louvre in Paris. I love Paris and would be more than happy to live there. I am also from St.Paul MN so we were neighbors at one time. Hope you find friends and lots of info here at tudiabetes.

thanks ellie!,
what else though? I 'm not allowed any carbs at all whatsoever right now. Cause my bs is not coming down quick enough. It was sooo high to begin with, over 650. I didn't take the dr seriously though because I was eating a few carbs, but i really do think since its not coming down i have to pay attention to him.

so I made the chicken, now what? basically no veggies, cause they all have carbs. Is there a veggie with no carbs, or little carbs? no rice, potatoe or pasta, no noodles as usual as in my previous life.

what are some side dishes with NO carbs? I think that's a hard question.
