It is true that a lot of people take a few weeks to get the hang of the OmniPod system, so it might be prudent to tough through it to see how his perception changes.

Yes, the pod requires a minimum amount of insulin (I though it was 80 units, but might be 85 as you say). As for withdrawing insulin, it is not recommended after the pod has been worn. The insulin has been exposed to body temperature for 3 days an...

Oh, and I would have informed the AA representative that they should be expecting a letter/call/visit from an attorney bearing paperwork for an Americans with Disabilities Act violation report...and follow through with that. It's amazing how a cer...

I still don't understand why you think you can't have a active pod during the flight. If you don't take the PDM out during that "magic" time when they prohibit use of electronic devices, how is anyone going to know? Seriously, why would you put yo...

While I agree that empowering him with the decision is the "right" thing to do, I really sounds like, typical of a child) he has let the one painful experience tint his outlook and judgement. Early on in my podding life (I've been podding for more...

Have you tried using a different bottle of insulin? Sometimes a bottle can go bad and become less effective (or not effective at all).

Alexia, I recommend looking though as many of the past discussions in this group as you can. Of particular interest might be the "Tips and Tricks" discussion: http://tudiabetes.com/group/omnipodusers/forum/topics/583967:Topic:254012

Well, that really is a gray area and depends on what you mean by "off." For the purposes of satisfying a flight attendant, I'd bet having the screen off is just fine (they don't know any better). I happen to disagree that the PDM is not OFF and no...

While I sympathize with you a great deal, I have to agree with Jim that you probably created the situation by "refusing." Just turning the PDM "off" would have put an immediate end to the situation, as I'm sure you realize now, after the fact. By ...

Agreed. This topic is definitely more relevant to OmniPod users than the general diabetes audience. I hope some 'Poders contribute to the other discussion, but this one is just as important, IMO.

Teresa, Are you writing these messages? What's the deal here? I sure hope there is not censorship going on at Tu Diabetes.

Tammy, Do you have any references about that? The reading I've done only talks about the "was-$40B-now-$20B" cost to the manufacturers (which we'd be naive to think they won't pass on to users), but I've seen nothing about a potential consumer-lev...

On me, it's just a bit lower than the waistband. My underwear fit tight against it so there is no rubbing. With jeans or most shorts or casual pants, the bulge isn't really noticeable. Having said that...I'm a guy; I can imagine it might be more o...

A recent box of mine had 4 priming failures, too. Sounds like a pattern to me... Customer service has told me in the past to make sure the insulin is at room temperature before filling and to leave the pod in the plastic case while it is priming. ...

I'm pretty lean and any spot on my back above the waistband doesn't work. But, I frequently place pods in that "in-between" space where my back turns into my butt. Here's how I place it: stand with my hands on my hips, thumbs facing the back. The ...

Eric,
I left a comment for Manny, well more of a question about double posting. I started a discussion in Cycling Diabetics about protein and the Cervelo Test Team. I thought it would also be beneficial to have it in Athletic Diabetics but was unsure about the ethics of double posting. Can you answer that question for me as Manny has not replied yet. As I'm new I don't know whom else to ask. Do we have mods to ask such questions?
