Breakfast!!

Posted on October 17, 2010 at 9:50am 7 Comments

Okay, so I'm trying to cut calories, watch the fat and watch the carbs. In my quest to do this I'm finding breakfast very difficult. I'm not one of those people who can eat the same thing day in and day out. I've been making egg whites with peppers, onions, tomatoes and a little cheese. Sometimes I have a couple slices of turkey bacon as well. So, today I decided I just couldn't do the same thing over again so began looking for alternatives. So, I found a whole slice of pita bread to be 18g of… Continue

Another Day Another Pound - LOST

Posted on October 15, 2010 at 4:42am 0 Comments

Yesterday, as I had promised myself, I watched the calories, fat and, of course, the carbs and I woke up this morning a pound lighter. Yay!!! I walked 2 miles and did some yoga for my abs. So, I am doing everything I can to combat weight gain. It's working!!! Today will be very much of the same. The exercise part is easy because I do that anyway. The "watching" part is the hard part. I didn't watch calories before. I've always kind of watched the fat because I just don't really want to eat… Continue

Low Calorie Foods

Today I have decided to watch calories as well as carbs and fat. I feel overwhelmed but will do it. Oddly, for me, I haven't had to focus on calories and fat because I am a healthy eater. I make things like quinoa and LOVE them. Now with a system running more optimally I guess I need to watch. So, breakfast was 1/2 bagel thin, sliced tomato and turkey, coffee and water. I dropped creamer and now opt for fat free evap. skim milk and… Continue

47 Years Old and a Newly Diagnosed Type 1

Posted on October 13, 2010 at 8:00am 13 Comments

I am a 47 year old female, newly diagnosed type 1 diabetic. I was originally diagnosed as a type 2 diabetic when I was 42 years old. After losing weight, changing my habits and exercising my numbers seemed to be rising. I was on Metformin, byetta and Levemir and still my numbers were high. Started with an Endo. and he discovered that I hardly made any insulin on my own so he said I was a type 1 and…
