My summer vacation

Here goes: Waldo is now one year old. He walked to the mailbox and back on a leash: 1/4 block, 20 minutes. A white tailed deer at the lake, chased after her fawn- reminded me of a shopping trip with a toddler. Trying hard gel nails; so sick of my own flimsy, ugly nails. My orphage flower bed - bought a lot of dying clearance plants and stuffed them in where I could.…See More

Weight loss - what else is new?

Hi Friends. I have started at the Bariatric Clinic here - they think I'm a good candidate for bariatric surgery. That is where they take part of the stomach away in one way or another and it makes the patient eat less, but fill full. The stats, I'm told, is that most people can lose 15% of their body weight, but bariatric surgery has an average of 30% of body weight. I'm not convinced the surgery is for me, but I have been learning a lot about how to diet - and I thought I knew everything!! So,…See More

Forgot my A.M. Meds today...

And, oh, that is not good. I forget when I'm on holidays sometimes, but a regular workday is definitely not ok. I'm T2, so there are no immediate effects- well not noticeable, but I have to be so very careful about what I eat when I don't have the safety net my Meds provide. It made me grumpy and anxious today.grrrr

Hair is a sexual extension of one’s self: a psychiatrist told me this once, and ever since I can’t look at people’s hair without thinking about how individuals are choosing to express their sexuality. The psychiatrist told me this after I cut my own hair – lol

Welcome to the family!! On this forum you will learn so much. Most of what you will learn is that you are not alone. Everyone here is supportive and will provide answers to your questions. Search the site for answers. Read the discussions and blogs for information. There are videos to help you understand diabetes and its treatment. Most of all there is family to talk to and vent to, if needed.

Hi ,

You may have noticed TuD hanging around the site. It's his 6th birthday this month, and his big international family of people with diabetes is growing. Our 6th birthday fundraising campaign is on! Every dollar you donate allows TuDiabetes to reach 6 people touched by diabetes, giving them the opportunity to not be alone!

Please consider making a donation, as well as asking your friends and family to give what they can. TuD's birthday party will keep getting more guests as we raise more donations (see top of the home page). Let's help keep our family thriving and growing! Please share this message. Thanks!
