- I was diagnosed Type I at the age of eight. Now, having been married for over 26 years and having two healthy grown sons, I've been battling diabetes for almost 40 years! My medical stories almost always land outside the box and so doctors tend to shudder when I start going over my history. I had a doctor once call me his worst nightmare. ...and then he retired and moved to Florida. *nods* Mm-hmm...I'm like that. *sigh*
