I agree wholeheartedly. Everything I do is tempered by my diabetes. I still do everything I did before diagnosis, so it hasn't restricted my activity, but it does make everything a little more complicated .....

I dose for the grams of carbs I estimate, then use either the square wave or dual-wave bolus on my 522 to "spread out" the insulin over an extended period. I usually use 90 or 120 minutes.

I pay a significant financial penalty (higher cost) if I use a local pharmacy. My insurance requires me to use CVS Caremark mail order for test strips, insulin, and other maintenance medications (cholesterol and blood pressure). Pump supplies are ...

I get my Medtronic pump supplies through Liberty Medical Supply. Very satisfied. They handled the recent recall for their customers, as well.

Yeah Lantus was a nightmare for me too. I experienced six insulin shock comas from it. I was absolutely TERRIFIED of going to sleep at night- would often sleep sitting up! I do NOT want to go back to that kind of life. yuck.
But, I started getting insulin resistance to short acting insulins- all short acting insulins. Which means that I need the support that Levemir offers 24 hours a day in order to keep my BG in check.
I'm gonna ask my doc about Symlin on my next visit in two weeks! I've heard some great stuff about that one.

Hi Gerry! I actually used to be on the pump, but had to come off of it due to complications. So, the pump won't help my overnight lows. :)
I've been on Levemir for almost two years now, and have had no major issues. Still looking for something better- as always with this darned disease! :)

Thanks for your comment Gerry. It can be frustrating. Many people don't make that big a deal out of it but I'm a bit of a science geek and need my answers LOL :) Have a great weekend!
