Thank you for replying to me....I actually lived in Nairobi for 16 years and loved every minute of it...looking back, ? Do you have children ? After leaving East Africa I spent a few years in the UK and then came to the States. My father lived in Toronto. Many of my friends from Kenya went to South Africa. Have you considered going on the pump? I was very resilient about it....and went on the pump about four years ago....I love it....my A1c went from 9 to 7 and then with the CGM system my A1c is 6.2% I just love the CGM and am totally lost without it....do you remember the days of denial....I used to eat, drink, sleep do whatever I wanted not thinking that anything bad would happen to me... with today's technology its so much easier....Write me back...

Hello,in checking out your profile, you say you want to talk to other diabetics, can you be friends with a 91 year, young, computer rookie, who is learning and sharing with members, globally. I have been insulin-dependent since 1977,(20 years, less than you) this gives me a chance to learn from and add to my ROLE MODEL approach in talking to over 40.000 and growing.Let us share experiences and grow together and be friends. My rule of thumb in sharing with especially the newly-diagnosed if 1. Have a good diabetes team, diabetic specialist, dietitan, podiatrist, social worker, pharmacist, 2 Wear a MEDIC-ALERT identification, it can SPEAK for you in case of emergencies, 3. Listen to your BODY it tells you when to eat, snack, EXERCISE, sleep, 4. Have a DIABETIC BUDDY, someone you call EVERYDAY, it serves 2 purposes, let someone know you CARE, and could SAVE A LIFE. Use my AMIGOKIT way of starting a diabetic social group. YOU must call 5 DIABETICS, EVERYDAY, and ask each person to call 5 DIABETICS. Keep In Touch and let me know how its working out in your area? clarence.haynes@sympatico.ca
