For me, a bunch of symptoms kind of hit at once: 1) Blurred vision even with glasses on. 2) Going to the restroom every 30 minutes. 3) Constant thirst. 4) Lost 30 pounds in one month. 5) Visiting my parents one day, someone mentioned how irritable…

Hey, The Glucoholic...I am in love. Will you marry me? Actually, I am already taken....sucks for you, I know, but just wanted to say I am a tad smitten. I just went back and reviewed your past blogs on low carb foods. How badly is this info needed?!?!? I am going to the Cracker Barrell ASAP to look for Diet Root Beer! Which brings me to my other exciting connection. I moved a year ago from Greensboro....loved the Triad area. We lived there 7 years and met so many nice people....I'd go back tomorrow if someone would please offer my husband a job there!

Anyway...thanks for the information and the entertainment. I enjoy your writing and look forward to more reviews. Thanks.

I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes in 2005. As I left the doctor's office that day, I am ashamed to say, my mind was not on the possible damage I might have already done to vital organs. I was not thinking about the blurred vision I had been ignoring for months. I didn't even give too much thought to taking medication of some sort for the rest of my life. I sat in the car and my only thought was "I'll never eat anything I enjoy again."

Thankfully, in the time since my initial diagnosis I have seen the truth - that there are options. They might not be advertised in neon lights as you enter your local grocery or restaurant, but they're out there. In 2007 I decided to try to create a place where people who felt like I did could come and find those options and have one less thing to worry about.

That place is glucoholic.com. Glucoholic is a review site where we review all kinds of low carb and sugar free snacks, foods, and drinks. landileigh was very kind to mention to me that links to our past reviews might be a help to those in the Tu Diabetes community, so here are some of our favorites!

Finally starting to feel better!

I mentioned last week that I've been suffering from a terrible cold. Basically spent the whole weekend sleeping and resting and I'm finally starting to feel better. One thing that got me through the painful, scratchy throat was Edy's No Sugar Added Fruit Bars. Fabulous fruit flavors and only six carbs!

Here's to everyone out there suffering with summer cold… Continue

I hate being sick!

I've been fighting a serious cold all week and it's really messing with my mojo. I did manage to get in a review of True Lemon citrus flavor packets. These things seem to be pretty versatile. The True Lemon website has a bunch of recipes for using them, and they really do add authentic flavor to your teas and such.

Also, I just found out yesterday that the… Continue

Another Light Cranberry Grape Juice Option

A while back we reviewed the Ocean Spray Light Cran-Grape Juice. I've been looking for some competition for this product and it had arrived in the form of Northland Light Cranberry Grape Juice. A nice juice that's a very healthy option for diabetics. Each serving only contains 5mg of sodium!
