"The new ones will have the paperclip deactivation. For now, throw it as hard as you can against tile/a wall. It's always fun ;)"

"I found there was a little lag from the long-term insulin ending to the new basal starting when I first started too. And my second pod I ended up tearing off when going hiking my first weekend. It's all good though, it gets better! And…"

"I too am a DP success story since being on OmniPod. The tweaks are ever-changing, but I have come a long way from 300-350 mornings to anywhere between 90-160, a now perfectly acceptable range. And it's done wonders for my quality of sleep not…"

Graeme Swift replied to NicIan's discussion 'Newbie questions' in the group OmniPod Users
"I'll go for silly too. I use my stomach for about 4 different sites frequently. The pod is very hardy so you won't break it by body weight. My only concern I've really had is when I turn and tear it off, but in one year of using…"

Graeme Swift replied to Jim's discussion 'Do you ever prefill a pod?' in the group OmniPod Users
"Yessir. Once you get those two beeps on filling, it will remind you it is ready to be activated every 2-5 minutes. A couple of things to consider, however. 1. You could always just prep a syringe and carry that around till you are ready. Less waste,…"

Graeme Swift replied to Jim's discussion 'Do you ever prefill a pod?' in the group OmniPod Users
"I personally don't think I'd risk it. Firstly, that thing is going to be beeping every 2 minutes, severely running down the batteries, and secondly, I'd assume there's more chance of an occlusion or error happening since you…"

Graeme Swift replied to Tab's discussion 'Skin tac' in the group OmniPod Users
"Whenever I want to make sure it's going to be REALLY sticky, I make sure to prep the area really well with alcohol beforehand, and allow that to dry first. Then apply Skin-Tac liberally and apply your pod when it gets it's tackyness for…"

Graeme Swift replied to Mom 2 Kyle's discussion 'Skin Tac Wipe and TacAway question...' in the group OmniPod Users
"Sounds like you're doing it all the same way as I do! Sometimes there's just more bubbles than normal. I tend to do the whole process with the needle pointing skyward - not sure if it makes a huge difference but could be worth a shot!"

Graeme Swift replied to Mom 2 Kyle's discussion 'Skin Tac Wipe and TacAway question...' in the group OmniPod Users
"Are you using positive pressure when you draw the insulin? Pull the plunger back half-way and insert air into the vial. This usually allows for 99% fluid to draw back into the syringe."

Graeme Swift replied to Mom 2 Kyle's discussion 'Skin Tac Wipe and TacAway question...' in the group OmniPod Users
"Sorry, I just meant in the timing of application of the pod. Sometimes I get ahead of myself and apply skin-tac before I've primed the pod. Then by the time I go to apply it, the skin tac has lost some tacky-ness. Alcohol works a dream…"

Graeme Swift replied to Mom 2 Kyle's discussion 'Skin Tac Wipe and TacAway question...' in the group OmniPod Users
"Hi Mom 2 Kyle, I LOVE Skin-Tac wipes. I've been using them since about week 3 and I LOVE them. They help the pods stay on so much longer. Here's a few tips: Make sure you prep with Isopropyl Alcohol swabs first on the skin, and wait for it…"

Graeme Swift replied to Tracy's discussion 'Are there any T1 happy with Omnipod?' in the group OmniPod Users
