I have a question for anyone who’d like to answer…I know I can’t be the only person with this issue, as I’ve had diabetes for a little over four years and have read here about people who have had it so much longer.I’m wondering, does anyone have people that they know… friends, acquaintances, relatives, associates… or whatever their relationship may be… who’s level of compassion toward your diabetes changes, if your relationship changes? Or if their mood changes? And if so, how do you deal with…See More

My 4yr Anniversary!

Posted on August 25, 2012 at 3:00pm 3 Comments

I have been doing a lot of thinking about my life... this is my 4year anniversary with diabetes.

It's kind of hard not to think of the bad times that this has caused.

I think of just in the last few months, how much I've missed.

For instance... in May, I was so looking forward to Topless Jeep Day. Not a real big deal, but I was supposed to take the top off my Wrangler, ride around, and take some pics. But because of low blood sugar (low bg), I spent the day... and the…

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY - Let's Be Wasteful!

Posted on July 4, 2012 at 11:30pm 0 Comments

Last night, after power was restored, I spent the remainder of the evening getting upset. I walked through my house & turned off lights that were left on, & anything electric that wasn't being used. The power had only been restored for not even an hour & it was already being misused & wasted.

I sat outside on my deck in the dark, under the moonlight, which was the only light available for a few days. How easy it is to go back to the same habits as before.

Today…

INSULIN ON ICE: Day 4 - It Could Always Be Worse

Posted on July 3, 2012 at 11:30pm 0 Comments

Day 4.

My first thought waking up: it could always be worse. That's what my mon would tell me every time I was dealing with something difficult.

I got ready for work & as I used my allotted amout of water in the bathroom, I thought, what if it was winter? Now that would be worse than this.

Yes, it's difficult to spend days inside when it's 90+ degrees outside, and there's no power, no water...and of course no cold water. It is extremely uncomfortable, but, as the day…

INSULIN ON ICE: Day 3 - The Benevolence Of Others

Posted on July 2, 2012 at 11:30pm 0 Comments

Day 3: Monday...

I've been three days without power before. But three days without power in 90 degree heat, and also no running water...well, that's more difficult.

I guess I'm more stressed than I thought. Last night I had a horrible dream. I left my house to get supplies, and while I was gone, another disaster hit. I wasn't able to get back to my house or to safety. The dream had an awful ending.

I now know why the recommended amount of water & food in regards to…
