Basal Check 1pm to 8pm - Starvation

Posted on April 9, 2011 at 5:04pm 2 Comments

Once again another post of just how my diabetes control has gone.  In some ways the post is more for me than anyone else, to show myself that I can apply myself and get results.  Hopefully my ramblings might help someone a little bit in some way.

Today I managed to get my blood glucose down over night and breakfast planned out as well giving me a chance to check my basal profile for the afternoon.  I struck it pretty lucky given that yesterday I’d…

Hello Hammish, you are correct, my dizziness has improved. I work out at the gym 3 times each week, about 80 minutes each time. I cannot do bench press type lifting, weak shoulders prevent that. I use about 15 different machines with weights attached. i can do 80-100 pounds of weights with some muscles, but only 30-40 with shoulder muscles. It is helping me. I have more strength and energy now, and am climbing ladders and painting my house. I could not have done that last year, but the gym has given me what I need. Thanks for asking!!

No you just hit the check button after its in comm mode to start the transmission.. theres no button to stop it so to speak, other than the usual change mode button once its stopped..(remember this is a guess how it works, assuming its somewhat similar to the Spirit on how it handles the data) Good thing that the Smartpix works with it.. Might want to find out if you can use the newer versions of the smartpix firmware with it.. I was using the smartpix for a long time since it *unofficially at that point* worked with Windows 7 and my spirit..

Know this sounds silly but dont you have to hit the check key after the pump is in comm mode to start the data transfer?

360 is set to recieve data, the pumps in comm mode, but you actually have to hit check to start the data tranfer I thought.. Could be wrong.

Wow I havent seen a Dtron in ages..

How did your basal testing work out?

Hello Hamish, the dizziness has reduced and I can even go shopping or take short walks in the morning now. I have very little dizziness after noon. I do my gym workouts an hour after luncsand that is going rather smoothly, buy I do experience a little bit of dizziness after each machine, like you said. I take things very slowly and have worked my way to 80 pounds on most machines. I have very little arm muscle. My trainer watches over me. For a 71 year old, I think things are going very well.

Thanks very much for your concern!!!

I wish. I got my V tron in germany and then the next time I needed a new one it was the H tron. I loved that thing. The ping to me is as close as it gets b/c you can really turn everything off. Still way ahead with all the memory slots and such but atleast I don't have alarms everytime I turn around. My Cozmo alarmed all the time for some rubbish and in the end I took some time off the pump. When I hooked back up I had turned everything off even with the Cozmo and started liking it again. I remember the Htron had 10 alarms and 2 of them were for expiration so you really didn't get those till the end. I still had them a few years ago with several months left on both so I ended up sending them to my old Endo in germany. Hope he got good use out of them but he was happy to take them. I have always donated my old pumps.
