ah, the odds are the hives have nada to do with the insulin.

Odds are that it may be caused by the preservatives in the insulin, not the insulin itself. I had a friend who was badly allergic to m-Cresol and methyl p-hydroxybenzoatem, which are the preservatives used in most forms of insulin sold today. Howe...

they just faded away, slowly, over a long time. I hope and pray I never get them again. Diabetes is nothing compared to the case of hives I had--I'm not exaggerating. I hope yours aren't as bad as mine were.

oh btw, the odds are staggeringly remote you are now allergic to Novolog, which was your specific question. Right up there with winning your state's lottery.

I had hives for 7 months, and is the case in 75% of the time, the docs couldn't pinpoint the cause. Just in case I had developed an allergy to Humalog, I switched to Novolog after months of hives. Didn't make one freaking bit of difference. :)

I itch and get a welt at the site of my Novolog injection for about 15 minutes afterwards. I have heard about allergies to the additives in insulin. I have skin allergies and there are things such as laundry detergents, household cleaners, body wa...

Hi Heath and welcome.

I see we have the same pump. I'm also in Mass. Are you planning on attending the ADA expo this Saturday? Look in the events section of TuDiabetes for details.

Also please check out the groups here. There's one for folks from New England, it may give you a chance to connect with other folks from Massachusetts.

If you have questions or comments about the fun of living with diabetes, feel free to post them here. It's a supportive and friendly place.
