The part about Penicillin is interesting to me. We think that I had a mild allergic reaction to Penicillin before I was diagnosed, but I never put the too together. Maybe that was the "environmental trigger" for me.

I am also a new pumper (under 1 month) and I am going to buy an extra insertion device and take it with me when I travel. There is no way I trust myself to insert that manually - and I don't even want to try.
There are so many new cases of Type 1 that it can't just be a genetic component so although it's true that diabetics are now having kids that doesn't account for all the new cases where the parents are non diabetic.

I have tried to do it manually. Let's just say it is not much fun and I found it a bit painful. Most insurance companies now cover the replacement of the Quickserter now. So I now keep the old one just in case.

I was doing it every four then noticed I was getting more scar tissue when I did that, so I changed to every three days.
