Hi Scott, you are so right - it is time to make you heard. They claim that too many calibrations will confuse the CGMS. This may be true but the reason is not the frequency of measurement but the algorithm for sensor calibration in the CGMS. So th...

Your feedback on Glucosurfer.org

October 2008
In the year 2005 I stopped to manage my written diabetes diary. It all seemed a burden to me and the benefits for my glycemic control seemed so little. I looked for solutions to manage my diary online with my mobile phone. But the solutions I found wanted me to reveal my identity. Luckily I met the right people at the institute for diabetes research and we developed our own solution called Glucosurfer.org that is usable in full anonymity, free of charge and financed by donations.

Everyone who is curious what this system can do for you is invited to take a look at my personal diabetes diary that I am managing daily (use the mouse to drag the diagrams):
http://www.glucosurfer.org/goto?diagram&language=en&user=278&share=3788281

I have created the group Glucosurfer.org users and I am looking forward to read your constructive feedback or questions there.

In some phases of our lifes we will struggle with our diabetes. Here the community with all its experienced diabetics can offer its helping hand. Even if you are not using Glucosurfer regularly you can use it for times of crisis. Just log your values for one or two weeks and share your Glucosurfer log with the community. I am sure you will get the support and encouragement to address your problems.

January 2009
Users of Medtronic or AccuCheck pumps can now upload their pump files to Glucosurfer.org. This is very convenient since these pump models are acting as digital diaries. If you have a pump from another manufacturer you are invited to upload their files in CSV or XML format. We will analyse these files to learn how to import them.

Greetings from Germany,
Holger and the team of Glucosurfer.org

Server down :-(

This morning something happened to our Glucosurfer.org Server. I immediatly knew that something was wrong since my mobile phone could not make a connection. Our provider examinded the situation and reported that the system is rebooting in a cycle. The company where I am working allowed me to leave earlier in the afternoon and I tried my best to fix the problem...4 hours later I decided that the system needs an "open heart surgery". So we transported the server to my home and right now it looks a… Continue

Hi Holger! Thank you for the welcome! I'm finding this place just perfect. So much information, so many fantastic people, such an important job for our community. Really more than I could imagine to find on the internet. Hope to speak to you soon. :o)

Hi Holger -

It looks like I did not have a glucosurfer account before, but do now. To import my Glucose Buddy logs (mainly food, exercise, site changes, etc), I generally send them to myself as a comma separated email - if those could be imported into the comments section of Glucosurfer, or the other way around, that would be great... I would be happy to talk with you in more detail at some point as to how it works so far for me.

Hi Holger -

Apologies for the delay! I just saw your posting on my profile. Yes, that does sound like a feasible approach - I don't know if you had seen our discussion, but a friend wrote a web app to import the minimed csv file and pull the relevant data out for me to present to my CDE and Doctor (they have a particular format they like...) - but I would love to be able to import this info into Glucose Buddy, or atleast have one resource for all of the info. I think I signed up for a Glucosurfer account, i will check momentarily. In the meantime, here is a pdf of the results from the web app...

I make only 1 shot of Levemir. It works 24 hours for me. And I can have a low in the night and a good bs when I wake up. For instance, a low at 3 in the night with 52 on my glucometer, I eat 10 grammes of sugar and , when I wake up at half past 6, I'm at 122. I think Levemir works well. I really think that this insulin is better than Lantus. Have a nice day and good work.
