Hiya, I'm 19 years old and have been diabetic since I was 18 months. I've hit a stage in my life where my diabetes has just hit a blip.

I had amazing control of my diabetes and then I hit the age where the hospital don't seem to know what to do with you so I am in the "Young Adult Clinic". A few years back I changed over to Novorapid and levemir insulin.

Being at school with diabetes was always hard when I was younger as the kids all thought it was contageous, once they found out it wasn't they were fine but going round their houses for parties or what ever and not being able to eat the cakes and sweets - This was when diabetes wasn't too common and they weren't too sure on it I guess - was hard.

Anyway, I hope I can meet new people on here as that is my main problem - I don't know anyone with diabetes!

I Live for the weekend (and sometimes Monday nights)

I am a bubbly blonde, who loves to laugh and make other people happy. No doubt about it the best laughs are those propper belly laughs!

I work full time as an Office Administrator - very boring, but it pays for my car.

When I'm not working I love going for a few drinks, going out with mates, cinema or sitting in watching movies, and my newest thing - cooking!

I love almost all sports and have a season ticket for my local football team.

Another major passion of mine is music! I will listen to anything that sounds decent (In my opinion) and will do so all day long. If I really like it I might even have a little dance.

Hey, what insulin regime were you on when things went well? I've been on two injections a day for the last 11 and half years (since diagnosis) i had to fight sometimes to not go on more injections but i've always felt more comfortable on two, and recently i proved that 2 still does work when i got my hba1c at 6.8. It might be worthwhile seeing i you can go back onto what you were on when things went well.

Hey,

Welcome!

I am on NovoRapid and Levemir, and my general experience is good with it, but I seem to have rubbish days (or weeks) sometimes, and it all just won't work right. I think that it's something that we all struggle with from time to time. It's great to see more young people who have diabetes getting involved though - going to hospital appointments for me sometimes feels like I'm the only one, since everyone else seems old and Type II. :(

Hi Hollie, sorry to hear about your blip in control, hang in there it will get better!! You managed to have great control for many years from a very early age and i'm sure you can get that back!!

As for me, I'm starting to come through the other side now. I'm now on multiple injections and not just the 2 and my control even after just 2 weeks is much better. I'm booked to go on the DAFNE course on the 18th august for a week so looking forward to learning loads there.
I'm just loving the flexibility I have with the multiple injections, its great!!

Anyway, I hope you find what works for you soon and just give me a shout if you ever need to talk!!

Keep in touch
Tony

Hi Hollie! Maybe TuDiabetes came up when you searched for tattoos because we have a fairly active group of Inked Diabetics.

Please help us spread the word about the community in the UK! Invite family, friends and others who can benefit from being a member.
