Having nightime spikes

I just increased my daughter's insulin at night. She was going low for the longest time. I check her at around 10:00 and my husband will check about 12:00 or 1:00. She used to be normal around 10:00 and then at 12:00 she was low. Now all of a sudden she is apx 200 at 10:00 and I blus her and then when my husband checks she usually comes down but not always and occasionally needs a second dose. She is on the medtronic pump and I changed her basal rate to give her more insulin overnight the other…See More

Attitude and Diabetes

My daughter is having problems adjusting in 1st grade. She is now 7 and was diagnosed at 4yo. I have tried different things and now I am wondering if her diabetes may have something to do with her attitude. Just grasping at straws here. She is such a smart kid and I am having issues with her father and the fact that he tends to baby her because she has diabetes and he feels bad that she has to deal with this and now she has celiac as well. She just went to the Dr. today and now has to take…See More

I can definitely see how adding celiac in would add insult to injury. I would definitely have a hard time adjusting, at least with diabetes they can eat what they want within reason, now you really have to change things up, say no to certain things and spend more at the grocery store! in the end she will be healthier and maybe the rest of your family too, going gluten free is'in vogue' so to speak so hopefully the transition will not be horrible. hang in there this site has been very helpful in helping me deal with things. just being heard if helpful in and of itself! if you need to vent i'll listen! best wishes amy

i agree 100% with your recent post, the arguing got to me to, we come here for support only, i hope you are having a good week with your daughter, i've been feeling alittle blue about things lately, i guess i will put my "big girl pants on" and deal with it, i like that one, i also like that somehow, my son handles all this very well and is ussually less reactive than me thank god for kids, like you said they are the same great kids they were before diagnosis, maybe better, people with easy lifes dont appreciate what they have! hang in, amy

oh my, Stillwater is maybe 20 minutes from me. I'd love for them to get some of of our TuDiabetes 4x6 cards and brochures. These are free for the asking. I keep them in my purse at all times. I understand Nejeda has a brand new medical facility - did you hear about it? I think they got a big grant from the Helmsley Trust.

Lorraine's son won a contest (forget who put it on) and they met Nick. Which camp are you going to? There's one near here called Camp Nejeda. I wish my mom had let me go to diabetes camp.
