"I turned my basal up to 200% the last time I had steroids, c. 2008. It worked ok. If 200% doesn't cut it, maybe set a different pattern or something?"

"Yep, I had a similar experience of 10 days increase in numbers. Like you my doctor had told me a couple days and then I came on here and got the real scoop! I did seem to go down gradually rather than all of a sudden."

"I've had a number of steroid injections, and keeping in mind that we all have different requirements.... I had to turn my basal up +200% (so 300%) +boluses the first few days, then gradually returned it to normal within about 10 days. Test a…"

Any ideas??? Blood glucous over 350 w/steriods

Yesterday at 2pm I got the steriod injection in my thumb. Had talked to dr and had a plan. Turn up basil on pump to 125% at injection, test 1 hour and adjust. Well, at one hour went to 150%, then a few hours later 175% this am I adjusted basil to 200%!!! Not much sleep with pump alarms. BG is bouncing between mid-200s and 385, no ketones yet. New to type 1.5, diagnosed 8/2012. On insulin...sill dealing with pre-dawn pheom and figuring out balancing carbs, exercise, etc. Oct 2012, a1c was 8.1, down from 12.5 at new diagnosis.

Welcome to the family!! On this forum you will learn so much. Most of what you will learn is that you are not alone. Everyone here is supportive and will provide answers to your questions. Search the site for answers. Read the discussions and blogs for information. There are videos to help you understand diabetes and its treatment. Most of all there is family to talk to and vent to, if needed.

Were you diagnosed as a Type 1 in 2001...which was later rectified to 1.5 (LADA)??
This is a great place to share, to learn, and to grow...all the while meeting new people world wide, and making friends.
Take a peek at some the groups when you get a chance. Just go to the top of your page, and click on "Groups". Once in,
click on "all groups". You can either peruse the wide array of available groups....or simply type a specific interest in the
space provided.
Take in some of the blogs/discussions as well.
The resource boxes at the top of the home "Home" page, and
"About us" at the very bottom of your page and every page (the footer), offer you more information still.
