I have a 2006 Trek Pilot 1.0 with about $300 dollars of upgrades on it. I modified the shifters as I hated the little thumb levers. It is set up for touring and i have riden it about 1500 miles since buying it.

Jim:

I was roaming around and did a message to Karla about something she asked me and noticed your comment. I think I have to clarify what I said on your message about your "presentation." It's not in judgment that I made that comment about caps. I experienced it briefly in the beginning for me when I was kindly told that, according to an unknown source [to me] it was considered "shouting" to be in all caps! I have no idea of the source.

But my training has been in the realm of desktop publishing and doing announcements and brochures. Reading things typed in all caps for any length of time is hard on the eyes. I look at Karla's messages (and mine) and find them much easier to follow and yours, for some reason, really hard to read ... hard on the eyes.

I certainly didn't mean to devalue anything you said and certainly didn't mean to "judge" you and not listen to your content. I don't recall how I responded, but I do know that I hate it when people say those stupid things. Sometimes, I think it's just to hear themselves talking!!!! (I've probably violated a rule using too many exclamation points!)

Anyway, I want you to know that I welcome your input and would not have responded to your discussion if I didn't care what you thought. My intentions were to pass on some bit(s) of wisdom I have learned the hard way.

Please let me know that you aren't P.O.'d at me. I think some may have made too much of the situation and I apologize for the misunderstanding.

Hi Jim,
I read what you wrote on Diabetes Plus. I have lived long enough to learn that you waste your own energy paying attention to people only concerned about what they will say next. It's like the "Have a good day" that sales people say to you even if it's midnight. Most people say they know exactly what you are talking about as a matter of habit or to set you up to listen to what all is wrong with them. You know the story - "I know exactly what you are talking about because I had one bad hangnail last night"! They don't really care or they really aren't listening. I don't think they mean any ill will but just have bad conversational habits.

I wrote this on your profile to tell you that I don't think it matters how you type. Caps, Bold type, or even bad grammer isn't nearly as important to me as hearing what you or anyone has to add to the topic. Please don't let that stop you from taking part. I appreciate the input here and hope the way I present myself isn't judged. Thanks for taking part.
