Jack's Mom replied to TracyUNCC's discussion 'Dexcom: The Good and the Bad' in the group Dexcom Users
"If you can't make the above work, then you are really only left with something that surrounds the site like vetrap or bands4life. My 3 year old son is the sweatiest kid in the world, but skin tac under and tegaderm over works for us. When we do…"

Jack's Mom replied to Laddie's discussion 'Anyone noticing a shorter life on the receiver?' in the group Dexcom Users
"No, have had no issues with G4 receiver. I've had it six months and the charge has lasted up to 4-5 days for us. However, most days we charge it every day so I only really notice the charge life when we are on vacation and not paying as much…"

Jack's Mom commented on Penny R.'s group 'parents of kids with Type 1'
"IMO You need two weeks of focus on the pump. So maybe one week of PTO and one week of going to work, but doing nothing else. It really took us two weeks to work out the kinks, but my son was 18 months when we went on the pump and I got no feedback.…"

Jack's Mom replied to Brian's discussion 'Anyone ever requested a partial quarterly shipment?' in the group OmniPod Users
"You can fill your prescription on a monthly basis, instead of quarterly. That's what my DME vendor suggested until we get a date to refill with the new smaller pods."

Jack's Mom replied to Aidan's Mom's discussion 'Lost, 1 week post T1 diagnosis' in the group parents of kids with Type 1
"My son was diagnosed at one year old by a random blood test with a 268 blood sugar and an A1C in the 5's. He was put on insulin right away, because his blood sugar was all over the map, and I am glad that he was. However, with the little ones…"

Jack's Mom replied to Erik's discussion 'Current Users Are Important to Insulet (LOL)' in the group OmniPod Users
"The target windows are HUGE for us with little ones. Can't wait to get eight - will make it so much safer for him. Plus the IOB is HUGE too - all make it a lot more safer."

Jack's Mom replied to Jgos's discussion 'New Pods and PDM' in the group OmniPod Users
"Thanks Erik. I was in a bad Omnipod place last night. ;)"

Jack's Mom replied to Erik's discussion 'Current Users Are Important to Insulet (LOL)' in the group OmniPod Users
"I believe that the transition has been handled very poorly, and continues to be handled very poorly. There seems to be no empathy or help given to old users at all. It breaks my heart today to watch my three year old son crying about how bad his…"

Jack's Mom replied to Jgos's discussion 'New Pods and PDM' in the group OmniPod Users
"You are lucky indeed, but very few old users have the new pod so no idea. (Grrrr....)"

Jack's Mom replied to Mom 2 Kyle's discussion 'Skin Tac Wipe and TacAway question...' in the group OmniPod Users
"We use Skin Tac wipes on everything - Omnipod and Dexcom - love it. However, we use Uni-Solve wipes to get it off which is way cheaper than Tac Away. They are great for transportation too, so maybe just use these in your bag. I buy most of this…"

Jack's Mom replied to Mom 2 Kyle's discussion 'WHEN is basal insulin delivered?' in the group OmniPod Users
"I used to stress out about missing basal during a pod change as well, because I wanted to make sure he got his basal on a "working" pod. I was always uncomfortable with people saying "oh, just give him some extra like a half unit or…"

Jack's Mom replied to Mom 2 Kyle's discussion 'WHEN is basal insulin delivered?' in the group OmniPod Users
"I called Insulet and had a detailed discussion with their R&D team about this, since my toddler son frequently only takes .05 or .10 basal for an entire hour. Basal insulin always starts delivery at the top of the hour and then is spread out…"

Jack's Mom replied to Mom 2 Kyle's discussion 'PDM meter reading lower than our AccuCheck meter.' in the group OmniPod Users
"I do believe that the Accuchek is more accurate than the Omnipod PDM, but my son is 3 and I don't mind that he runs a little higher. His A1C has always been in the 7's, which is fine, and we just adjust to the readings on the PDM. I know…"

Jack's Mom replied to Kevin's discussion 'Wearing both an Omnipod and Dexcom4' in the group OmniPod Users
"My son wears both devices and when he gets really bad skin irritations / rashes we use a Johnson and Johnson tough pad underneath. My son's skin is bothered by the Dexcom more than the Omnipod though."

Welcome to the family! On this forum you will learn so much. Most of all you will learn that you are not alone. Everyone here is supportive and will provide answers to your questions. Search the site for answers. Read the discussions and blogs for information. There are videos to help you understand diabetes and its treatment. Most of all there is family to talk to and even to vent to, if needed. Welcome home.
