Medicare coverage for test strips

I am a Type 1 diabetic of 57 years with no complications as yet. I am now on Medicare, and of course, they don't want to pay for anymore than 4 strips a day. I have been testing 6-7 times a day and 2-3 times at night. I live by myself and can't feel a reaction coming on. I now have a sensor which has been a big help. You would think Medicare would pay for more strips as in the long run it would probably save them money. I read where some of you get strips from Ebay or Amazon. Do you trust…

Iam on MEDICARE. They do not pay for my strips or any of my diabetic supplies. My Gap insurance does, The problem with them is they expect me to be able to go from the month I bought them to the next month. I finally got them to realize that sometimes with the insulin I might have to take extra shots. Have you explained to MEDICARE that you need to test more? Do you have secondary insurance?

Linda, Thanks so much for the kittens card you sent to me, it was beautiful! I love kittens-cats! I just recently moved and had to give up 3 special cats as I couldn't have them in my new place. That was very hard to do, but hopefully they are all doing ok. I don't do too much with Tu-diabetes as I guess I don't know what to do. I'm not to computer savy. Hope you're doing ok, and thanks again. Janet
