Drum Roll Please...

My daughter's A1C is down to 8.6. The last time it was that low was just after dx 5 years ago. It has been steadily declining since July when she started combining levemere and the pump. We added the cgms a few weeks ago. I hope we can get into the 7 range soon.

Rocky Start with CGMS

My daughter and I went for cgms training last Sunday. She hates the thing!!!! We were going water skiing so she took it off before we even had the chance to calibrate. It was actually good she took it off because she skied with the long rope this year!!! The force of the water on her body when she fell would probably been too much for the devise. She tried again on the way home, and took it off again within 24 hours because it hurt. She reluctantly tried again. The third time seemed to be the ch… Continue

CGMS notification date is near...

I was told by Aetna that they will make their decision on or before August 30th. I called yesterday, no decision yet. I am still keeping tons of data in case I have to file a second appeal.

Jane, you should check out our group for teens! Perhaps your daughter would like to join as well. There are a lot of great teens on this site who deal with the same stuff that she does everyday. Diabetes is so much easier to deal with when you know that you are not alone!!

Hope that the CGMS works out soon!

Thank you for all of the kind words and welcomes. I have a 14 yo DD dxd 9-8-03. We are nearing the 5 year anniversary. I thought things would get easier, but they only get harder. Teenagers are hard to raise, teenagers with D are even harder. Everyday is a challenge. Right now we are trying to get her a cgms. We were DENIED. After Monday's incident, see pic in photo contest, I think they will overturn the decision. I am crossing my fingers that the EMS report and ER report will speed them up. I also have a son (12) and another daughter (9). D is hard on them as well. It takes up a lot of my time that I could be spending with them :-(. I will try to get some pics up soon.
