Marie B said… hi Janice, I just heard you've been spreading the word about BBT, fantastic! we can do this with everyone's help. please tell us more about your activity in this discussion
http://www.tudiabetes.org/forum/topics/big-blue-test-2
and thanks again!

Doris D said… Thank U soooo much for emailing it to other D's! We need to reach 20,00 (I think it is) by the 14th of NOV! U don't have to be a D to do it so tell ur friends to get their lovedones to do it too. If ur not a D it will ask that question 1st then it will change the questions to someone not D and they won't have to enter their # in it. I've ben gone for a few days and that's why I'm just now getting back to u. PLEASE remember the more the merrier on the BBT

Doris D said… wow u grew up in lovely places didn't U? I bet u get homesick for the Southern Fried Cooking!!! I have been to ST. Louis but that was a few years back. I LOVED going to the Carndenal ballgames (Yes I was a Crandenal Fan my hubby was for Atlants but that a whole other story lol) U can still get some southern food there but like u say it's not really in the South lol
Have a good day

Doris D said… Yes I grew up about 50 miles from where I live now in TN I live maybe 75 miles from MS. I was born in RI but we cane here when I was under 5 b/c this was my parents hometown. I grew up in the lovely south with LOADS of fried foods at my expoal. lol! LOVE the South!!!!
I'm glad that u are taking part in the BBT. I don't see how others w/o insurance do it either. It's sad that ppl have to do without the medical supplies they need

Doris D said… U hit the nail on the head when it comes to the drs!!!! I'm kinda jaded too about them. I was 10 at D and now all I remember about thaty time was my mom used to make Mississippi Mud cake (or was it pie) and it was totally sweet and I LOVED it and couldn't have it anymore. I missed that
Hey why not join us in the BBT? Here's the link for it
www.bigbluetest.org
test then exercise for 15 minutes then test again and enter it into the site
It's the biggest thing we do here at TuD and it will help others who have trouble getting insulin to get it I forget tyhe name of the insulin who will donate 100.000 to the cause if we get 20,00 hits b/f Nov 14 world Diabetes Day so join us if u can. I test once to twice a day just to enter it there. It cost nothing and it helps others with D I think that's great b/c at one time I was one of those who couldn't afford to buy my supplies and still have sometimes where I have trouble getting them Join us if u can

Doris D said… Yes and YES!!! I tried living life to it's fullest only to learn I'd live alot longer than I was told and it would be so nice for drs to get some of that training in there. U know is a looooong life and u will have this for that life so drs really need to be careful of what they say! My belife anyway.
Sorry it took so long for me to answer u back but I spend ALOT of time in our chat. It's at the bottom of the homepage come on over and join us when u can.
I am there most of the time during the day and up til around 9 at night. I go on and off there but I'm sure u'll be welcomed with wide arms. U could help advise some of the ppl who have just ben diagnosed and compare notes with others. And we all know that feeling after we're diagnosed or even 2 years later don't we? all the support u get is soooo much better

Doris D said… that sounds about right with that bomb squad at the time lol
I hope I can give off a positive vuibe b/c of what the drs say. OK to me they try to scare us into taking care of ourselves.(I was told i wouldn't live to be 30) and I DON"T want the younger ppl to hear that and belive it b/c I made some MAJOR mistakes in my teens beliving it. I want ppl to know they can live a long full live and get to be what I was a mom (was told I couldn't do that either) and now a g-mom of 4 soon to be 5
Thanks I'm very happy to have it

Doris D said… oh yes I remember when they were so big lol! Funny we made it through though no matter how bad we were lol!
I'll check that out thanks no I hadn't heard about it and u my friend have an honerable career

Doris D said… No I really can't. Changes have been so great to us though. The urine testing I lied about lots lol! My mom finally caught on to me but it took her awhile lol. Wonder all of us from that time are still here lol

Doris D said… I was disgnosed in 73 myself
