Girl, yes. Good ideas always happen for me in too much of a hurry. Do you know, someone once told me that diabetes often happens to people who need to stay grounded to the earth (we'd often rather be flying or not exactly human, i think)...

You should join the group for those of us with ink. I need design ideas for my next tattoo. Plus there are better pics of my arm...

What type of design are you aspiring to? I'm an interior designer

I lived in allston brighton and somerville back when i was a wee undergrad... raarr, gotta love beantown. Must be hot right about now?

your t-shirt idea could really take off, can you show us more graphics? I'm not too sure I'd "wear it on my sleeve", but I guess I'm always wearing it on my hip, so maybe, if the design was right!

cheers

Hi Janie. I am glad you are here.. Type 1 is deadly and scary and frustrating and confusing and funny too. And there's a whole bunch of us here in the same boat.

Hi Janie,
Nice to meet you. I'm type 1 also. I no longer take any oral meds. I was on one, of course I've forgotten the name, that I liked and seemed to be working, but it can cause liver damage, so they switched me to actos. I gained almost 30 pounds in six months of taking Actos, got lots of leg cramps, and it didn't seem to make much difference in my BG numbers. My a1c runs 5.5 to 5.7. I was diagnosed almost 2 years ago. I am one of those who doesn't have too much trouble with taking the shots. One shot of Lantus at night, and Humalog whenever I eat. I think insulin is a great thing. And I sometimes have a little ice cream, but only a little and only sometimes, so maybe you can occaisionally have the samples that are given out on the tours! Hope you find the right balance for you, and have fun teaching in Europe!
