I use outer thighs, arms and belly for infusion sites, was hoping the "bum" area would work out better for a CGMS than it does for an infusion set, but it's not looking great so far. I do worry a bit about skin fatigue, I've got plenty of lumpy sp...

I've been using my upper thigh for years, never had problems with it. I just make sure the snap-down part is facing my feet, to avoid pooling moisture in the shower.

I tried putting a sensor in the upper portion on my "Bum", just below where a pair of ladies bikini's would sit. It worked for a day, and then, yesterday morning, I was sitting up in bed, propped up with pillows, and received a sensor error. . . h...

That's largely in line with what I heard from the third quarter Insulet conference call. If I remember correctly, FDA submission for the Dexcom / PDM combo is on track for end of the year 2009, and FDA submission for smaller pods is on track for m...

Like Melissa, I am a former tubed pumper (albeit with Medtronic MiniMed for 20 years) and I'm now an OmniPodder as of earlier this year. I was diagnosed in high school, and I started insulin pump therapy within 24 hours of diagnosis, largely becau...

Kiss your endo goodbye immediately, and find one that has thinking inline with the 21st century. Because the next thing you know, he'll be trying to find you some pork insulin and convince you that urine testing is okey-dokey. Any doc who refuses...

After having a box with a few duds, my local Insulet rep mentioned all of the tips here and also gave me a tip yet mentioned -- after deactivating a pod, move it far away from the new pod that you're activating in order to prevent any interference...

The Transmitter cannot be opened to do a battery replacement. (And you might not be able to open the Receiver either, although removing the four small screws on the back of the case, with the right sort of bit, might work.) I've had Transmitters ...

If you're covered on insurance, I'm sure they would pay for a replacement if you are out of warranty. Generally, insurance coverage on medical devices is such that you can get a new one when your warranty expires.

That's pretty much all I know, too. Just wanted to ask to see whether anyone had any real world experience with transmitter replacement, issues with insurance for transmitter replacement, etc. Thanks.

All I know is that the transmitter has an one year warranty. When my one year was up and decided that I wanted to upgrade to Dexcom 7 Plus! You need to call and ask Dexcom that question.

I believe the transmitter does need to be replaced. I'm not 100% sure but I think the replacement costs less than original but I guess a rep can confirm that for you. (Or someone on here who has been through it). I also believe the life span of tr...

Jaybear added a discussion to the group Dexcom Users
Perhaps this is something I should have asked when I purchased my Dexcom CGM, but what happens when the transmitter's battery dies? Does Dexcom charge me for a replacement transmitter, and if so, how much does it cost?

Where do you place the pods?
October 18
Pods do fail from time to time, just like tubing and infusion sets on conventional pumps. I have had little issue with pod failures, but like every OmniPod user, I have encountered pod failures. After working my way through the OmniPod learning c...

Although I am a bit late to this thread, I think it's worth repeating that you should draw primarily from the experiences of people who actually live with insulin pumps rather than nurses and doctors who do not. I think most medical professionals ...

HI:) I love reading your posts...and noticed you were a long time MM pump wearer and then switched to the POD, which you love. I am thinking of doing the same after years of frustration w/ tubing and Minimed. Given I should replace some of my equipment and my insurance will not cover much...I am thinking good time to take the leap! Plus...I like the DEX better for CGMS and it seems it will be integrated w/ the POD very soon. Can you share any insights...what makes the POD so much better? what were the things you found to be major improvements. Thanks for any details you can share:) Take care.

Wow. We were diagnosed within a few months of one another. And my cousin used to live in League City. That makes us...absolutely nothing. :) *laughs* But seriously, at least I've been to your town. I'm a new podder (May 09), but did many years with Minimed, too, and then Cozmo. I live about half an hour north of Dallas, near Plano. Enjoying your contributions to the many different threads in which we're both participating.

That's good to hear. :) I'm glad to hear the Omnipod is working out so great for you! I actually did the opposite as you did! I went from omnipod to minimed! Kinda funny, huh? I had a lot of issues with the Omnipod so decided to change to MM. I was SO excited to start the omnipod and really, really wanted it to work great for me too!! :( But it worked great for me in the beginning and just fizzled out on me I guess! I just wish it has lasted for me! How long have you been on it? I used it for a little less than a yr before changing to MM. Well have a good 4th of July!! :0)
