I always shoot for less than 140 mg/dL with post-prandials, with ideal being 120-130. I know that if I'm much lower than 100-ish at the 2-hour mark, then--due to the remaining duration of action of the Humalog--I'll be going too low in the next 90 m…

i had the same reaction. !st thought was 'if it's true I'm going to post it on TuD for everyone'. then I opened it and red it :(

I am hoping that Animas will sell the Dexcom in Canada . Can't get a Dexcom here yet and since Animas has distribution in Canada, maybe this will speed things up?

I guess this may mean that the 'new' unit(s) will be delayed much later that we anticipated. Why market this when something is coming soon? golly-gee wiz-darnit!

Me too! ...the only advantage I could see in conjunction with the insurance/billing is in reordering supplies all from one place....(kind of like w/ getting the rest of one's medications all from one pharmacy)

Awesome! I totally missed that. Very cool. That's something that Insulet should be offering with the OmniPod. (Or maybe they are at this point. I know they weren't back when I was using it).

Looks as though it could be slightly more comfortable than the OmniPod given its lower profile. But my big problem with this system, as well as the OmniPod, is that you're limited to a single choice of infusion set/cannula. So if, for any reason, y…

Did any of you just get the Dexcom-related email from Animas? I got really excited for a second, thinking that maybe this was the big announcement of the Ping/Dexcom CGM integration. But, no. :-( What they're announcing is that Animas is now sellin…

TDD of Humalog from pump = 25-28 U, on average. 50-60% of that is basal.

LOL, yes it is! There was a strong soap opera presence at JDF at the time. In addition to Stuart Damon (Dr. Alan Quartermaine), Gloria Loring from Days of Our Lives, along with her husband Alan Thicke, were major fundraisers, too. They all had type…

This might be the coolest diabetic related canister I have ever laid eyes on in my life. Wrap that can up in a zip lock bag or something along those lines (so it does not get ruined). You need to put this (post) in blog form as well. Welcome to TU…

Hi Jason:

I'm sending you this message because I see you listed as living in the Bay Area.. I'm planning on starting a Diabetes Support Group which will be open to all Types, all ages. The purpose will be to create a safe place to share the feelings, thoughts, hopes and fears we all go through as well as share insight and strength for managing our diabetes. It will be in an informal setting in Berkeley and the fee nominal.

My qualifications for facilitating this group are that I am a retired Counselor with over 25 years experience doing groups. I just returned from living for two years in Guatemala and currently teach Psychology online for a Community College.

Perhaps even more important I was misdiagnosed as Type 2 diabetic two years ago; did fine on oral meds for awhile and then my numbers started to climb. After a lot of research and a lot of talking to others I realized I was LADA/1.5 and am now stable on a basal/bolus insulin regimen. Through this experience I went through the anxiety, fear and sense of being overwhelmed by diabetes. Today I live with this disease on a daily basis with both full recognition of how it affects everything in my life and a commitment to living a full rich life outside of Diabetes.

Please contact me here or at zoelula@hotmail.com if you are interested in participating in a support group.

Glad to hear that you will be trying out different types of infusion sets! For me the shorter (6mm) 90 degree infusion set works best for now. You will find the one that is best for you!

Thanks for the long post! I can be pretty verbose, too... will try to keep this brief :) I've had a decent experience with MiniMed, but I'm thinking about using a CGM, and I've heard awful things about MM's accuracy, which kinda defeats the purpose. I really like the fact that Animas is partnered with Dexcom, as the Dex 7+ is my first choice... plus, I love the meter option with the Ping. (I keep my pump in my bra, which can be... awkward, to say the least.) And you can switch to Animas from another pump for only $200, which is generally the amount of money I waste on coffee in a month or two! (I figure if being a coffee addict is my worst vice, it's the least of my worries.)

Hey Jason! I'd love to hear about your experiences with Animas & Omnipod... maybe it's just the (constant) advertising Animas does, but the Ping looks great, and I'm thinking about switching form MM next year.
Also, while I love the *idea* of the Omnipod, I'm worried about the pod being obvious under clothing... not that I walk around in Spandex or anything, but I do like my clothes to be relatively form-fitting. Why did you switch?

Welcome Jason. Nice to have you as a member. I use a minimed pump, but have been looking into animas one touch ping. How long have you used it? Do you like it?
