Just a quick follow-up for everyone who was so kind in offering me their advice. I received some samples from Animas and have been wearing the straight-in Inset for the past day and a half. And it's so much more comfortable for me. I had been pu...

This is fantastic. I'm in. Does anybody know where, specifically, we're posting our BGs? Will there be a new discussion thread?

I use the inset 30's and I'm lean also. I've Only had 1 or 2 sites that hurt and I've only been using these Inset 30's for about 3 mos. also. I do notice they leave a pronounced red "pump bump" for a week or so and after the bump goes away I'm lef...

Thanks all for your input! Animas is sending me some samples. I'll try a straight-in set first, see if that's more comfortable. And if not... I'll keep testing new ones. :-)

I can't wear those type of sets either! Get samples of other sets and give them all a try.

Hey Jason - I had similar probs with the Inset 30. I thought it was the angle - and I tried different ways - but still same results. I am fine with manually putting in the Comfort sets - but even then - I would get irritation from time to time. In...

Let Animas know of the problem, they should have an idea of a solution. My experience with Animas although it was before the Johnson and Johnson buy out, was they wanted you to be happy and in comfort. I can't imagine they won't help.

Sorry to hear about this Jason-- it must be really frustrating! The first step I think would be to try different types of infusion sets. If you call Animas, you can get samples, I think. (If they don't want to send you samples, then tell them tha...

Why, oh why, do my sites hurt all the time? It's getting old. :-\ I'd love any thoughts or advice you might have. I'm using the Inset 30s, which are 30-degree angled 13mm sets. I've only been on the Animas pump for 3 months or so and have been us...

Hi Jason:

I'm sending you this message because I see you listed as living in the Bay Area.. I'm planning on starting a Diabetes Support Group which will be open to all Types, all ages. The purpose will be to create a safe place to share the feelings, thoughts, hopes and fears we all go through as well as share insight and strength for managing our diabetes. It will be in an informal setting in Berkeley and the fee nominal.

My qualifications for facilitating this group are that I am a retired Counselor with over 25 years experience doing groups. I just returned from living for two years in Guatemala and currently teach Psychology online for a Community College.

Perhaps even more important I was misdiagnosed as Type 2 diabetic two years ago; did fine on oral meds for awhile and then my numbers started to climb. After a lot of research and a lot of talking to others I realized I was LADA/1.5 and am now stable on a basal/bolus insulin regimen. Through this experience I went through the anxiety, fear and sense of being overwhelmed by diabetes. Today I live with this disease on a daily basis with both full recognition of how it affects everything in my life and a commitment to living a full rich life outside of Diabetes.

Please contact me here or at zoelula@hotmail.com if you are interested in participating in a support group.

Glad to hear that you will be trying out different types of infusion sets! For me the shorter (6mm) 90 degree infusion set works best for now. You will find the one that is best for you!

Thanks for the long post! I can be pretty verbose, too... will try to keep this brief :) I've had a decent experience with MiniMed, but I'm thinking about using a CGM, and I've heard awful things about MM's accuracy, which kinda defeats the purpose. I really like the fact that Animas is partnered with Dexcom, as the Dex 7+ is my first choice... plus, I love the meter option with the Ping. (I keep my pump in my bra, which can be... awkward, to say the least.) And you can switch to Animas from another pump for only $200, which is generally the amount of money I waste on coffee in a month or two! (I figure if being a coffee addict is my worst vice, it's the least of my worries.)

Hey Jason! I'd love to hear about your experiences with Animas & Omnipod... maybe it's just the (constant) advertising Animas does, but the Ping looks great, and I'm thinking about switching form MM next year.
Also, while I love the *idea* of the Omnipod, I'm worried about the pod being obvious under clothing... not that I walk around in Spandex or anything, but I do like my clothes to be relatively form-fitting. Why did you switch?

Welcome Jason. Nice to have you as a member. I use a minimed pump, but have been looking into animas one touch ping. How long have you used it? Do you like it?
