BadMoonT2 said… Hi Jeff, Peetie told me about your discussion on the Ontario Group and suggested I tell you about my experience with Victoza. Since I'm from the States I decided to contact you here. Last July my numbers started getting out of control. At my regular appointment I asked my Dr. to be put on insulin. He suggested I try Victoza first. It had an immediate positive effect on my numbers. It has also caused me to loose some weight at a very slow pace, which also has a positive effect. However it does not agree with some people causing nausea. Also there is a cancer risk which at this point is hard to quantify because it is a new drug. I think it works on the same thing as januvia does. I would suggest getting really serious about cutting the carbs that cause you to spike first. This is called eat to your meter. I have had to give up fruit, grain, potatoes and beans in addition to sugar. To learn more about this check out the bloodsugar101 website. If this does not work and you decide you don't like the risks associated with Victoza insulin is a good option, the main thing is to do whatever is needed to get your numbers under control. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Everyone here is supportive and will provide answers to your questions. Search the site for answers. Read the discussions and blogs for information. There are videos to help you understand diabetes and its treatment. Most of all there is family to talk to and even to vent to, if needed. Welcome home.
