I'm an identical twin and my sister got type 1 at age eight. I followed suit at age eleven. There is a 50% chance that the other identical twin will not get diabetes (or will). It's hard to be a mother of twins, I know (my mom won't let me forge...

Wow! We do need to talk. :) We're in Kauai now, home mid week. We'd love to get together with you guys! We go to the pump class on Wed. the 4th to pick anna's pump. Yeah!!! We're moving forward. We ended up negative to Celiac's but are still having troubles getting her stabalized. They want her to wear a sensor after we return. More info is better. She does carry the gene to be predisposed for Celiacs so they are watching her. Before we left, she was riding in the 400 and 500s again. UGH!!!!

Hi Jen,
Isaac started pumping insulin last week with the MiniMed Paradigm 522 :-) We were hoping for the OmniPod...but after trying it out for a few days, it just didn't work for him. Maybe in four years! The tubing hasn't been an issue at all...that was my biggest concern. The needles for his sets are HUGE, but he's been so tough about it, says it doesn't hurt at all. I've been changing his site every two days, just because I'm paranoid. With mid-winter break this week, we've had lots of time for basal testing. Numbers are still a little wonky, but I know that's to be expected. Feeling a little more confident, a little less stressed...I know this is the best option for him right now. Looking to get him set up with a CGM next month. Hoping for some sleep in the very near future :-)

Hey Jen, We're signed up for class on Jan. 7. I'm hoping to make a decision and get him started during mid-winter break in February. Making myself crazy trying to choose, but ultimately it will come down to what Isaac wants. I love the looks of the OmniPod for so many reasons...it was my initial favorite, but then the ping and minimed have so many features that look good too...but ugh, the tubing. My bet is we'll end up with the pod and love it as much as you do :-) Isaac loved the stickers...he made me promise we'd buy a bunch so he could always keep it decorated. I also read that they're working on integrating a CGMS...that would be perfect. Hope all is well where you are...so glad the snow is gone!!

Hi Jen! We can't get up our icy driveway to the even icier road, so we're home from school and work today. Taking the rare opportunity of a few extra moments to do some pump research. I noticed you've already taken the class and was curious what you think of all the options. We're scheduled to take it next month and are leaning toward the ping, but I would love to know what you think if you get a chance!

Supper would be a great idea. The darn plane tickets are the same price as going to mexico or cuba. Weird how the prices work.We were looking at prices to B.C. the other night but still have to look at prices to your area from burlington vermont instead of from montreal. Sometimes it's cheaper to drive to USA and fly from there. It would be really cool to meet you guys face to face. We seem to already have many things in common and you like camping so how could it not work, I mean camping ....come on.....what campers don't get along. Anyhow gotta go to work so take care and chat soon.

Hey Jen, Don't know if u know who this is........it's "gin's" husband.......from Canada......thinking.....thinking.......oooohhhhhh yeah. Nice to meet you so to speak. That is Noah in my picture. I'm still trying to figure this site out. Lots of things going on here. Your name is everywhere on here huh. Those camping pictures are where I wish I was right now. We are off to see the endo later on for his regular check up. We have questions for her too....his numbers are all over the place sometimes and we want to find out why. It would be sooooo cool if the pump could adjust itself to his body huh kind of like a pancreas. Dreaming never hurt anyone. It's 3:15 am and I am still awake; I only get in from work at 1:15 and am wide awake so I get on this and try and tire myself out. Sometimes it take til 4am. Not good for the next day though.Luckily I only start at 2pm. Have yourself a great day Jen and tell that hubby of yours to write to me.

aw what alittle trooper, I couldnt imagine taking shots at 5 years young. I love the pod, its was really life changing, specially being a teen, no tubes and its water proof. The fact that they are working on a CGMS in 2009. its a teenager diabetics dream =], but its really up to your son, look around and try some demos. but if you ever have question ill try my best to answer them =]

The pictures of your boys are so great! Aww.... It makes me want my sister to live closer. Yeah, I've only been diabetic for 2 and 1/2 years. Overall I'm doing really well (I think- have an endo appt coming up soon). I just switched to the pump in August and it definitely seems to keep my blood glucose levels much more stable. You should check out the twin group here on the site. There are a few members and it's not very active, but you could reach out to them one on one. I'll try and post a few more pics of my sis and I so your boys can see. Have a great day!

~Lindsay
