My daughter is still waiting for her actual diagnosis but with Halloween coming up, it has raised some concern for her and myself. I wonder how parents normally handle this with D1 children. I had a family suggest that she could still go and then some of the family would get together and "buy" her candy from her, then she could go shopping and buy something other than food/candy with her money.

I just wanted to stop by to see if you've done your Big Blue Test Today. Dont' forget that every time you log a Big Blue Test $5 is donated to diabetes charities that are providing life-saving supplies and services.
If you haven't yet, go log a Big Blue Test at http://www.bigbluetest.org/. If you have, do another!

Linda G said… I'm so sorry to hear of your hardship. Hang in there Jenn. How long since you saw your PCP...if you don't hear from him in Monday, call and ask if they've at least contacted the endo. Then if they did...ask how long does it normally take before the endo. responds. If your endo does not call you by the end of the week...call again. Keep calling till you get an answer. Keep me posted please.
luv and hugs ♥

Linda G said… Jenn...first of all don't EVER feel that you're a burden. My goodness...you're human, and of course you've been through SO much!! First step first....wait for a proper diagnosis. Though it seems pretty certain that diabetes is the culprit here...we're not doctors. Once you have the actual dx...it'll open the door to accessibility. I know you mentioned it in the Chat Room...but when did you start noticing the symptoms? And...when are you seeing the specialist?
Try to maintain calm...easier said than done...but it'll go a long way in not scaring your daughter. She truly needs you right now...and she needs you to have your wits about you....do NOT worry...it will all work out ♥ When you feel like you've just about had it...come here and tell us about it :)
hugs hugs hugs....linda

Hello! Thank you for having me as a friend Jenn :)
South Carolina!!! So far away, but it feels like you're right here! That's one of the appealing factors of tu.diabetes. I'm in Canada...in the southwestern part of the province of Ontario...a city named Kitchener-Waterloo (2 cities joined together). I'm a wife of 33 years (hubby is also diabetic), mom to two grown children (one 28, the other 26), a grandma to 3 lovable little boys, a teacher, and before that an illustrator (still do some) and graphic designer....I speak French fluently, I read, history fascinates me, I paint, sing, walk, garden, ski, ride my bike....did I mention "read"? I love having friends over, I bake/cook, am an eclectic music lover, an animal lover...the ocean...ah the ocean...it speaks to me! Oh...and I have diabetes (and a few other things).
Nice to have you as a friend!!! Tell me a bit about yourself!
Keep in touch, ok? Hugs to you and your daughter...
linda
