Actually, Minimed's Paradigm will be called some new name, but the UK one has a suspend ability--if you don't clear a low alarm after a few attempts at alerting you to a low, the pump will suspend delivery of insulin for 2h. Needless to say, one w...

Really approved now for CGMS!!

Coolness with Monarch!!

Monarch family health care is the co-insurer I moved to in the CalOPTIMA network. They have got all the things they needed from my doc and I, and I'm 100% approved for CGMS sensors.

I get my first box of sensors from MM and CCS Medical tomorrow.

Already got the call from Minimed to say they're on the way, so this is wonderful!!

New Doctors, new endo, new network, close labs, Man, it's all Rock & Roll from here on :-D

Carrying Medical ID/Wearing Medical ID. Do you?

The other day at work, an Employee passed out on the floor.

No, not diabetes, not any known condition. They had been treaded for a bad spider bite, and apparently had a reaction to the meds they were given in the urgent care. Other than falling on the slate floor and some bruising, they'll be OK.

This got me to thinking though, I am a Cheapskate. I used to belong to Medic-Alert and so on, but remembering to update ever-changing meds can get away from me. So, I had the bright idea of printing u… Continue

Hiding away from the D? WHY?

My main question: Should we hide our diabetes from the world... while asking for more research Funding??

I got a tweet from someone in Canada who says he gets 'angry' at people who accomplish things & then say they have diabetes. I said "We should be visible if we are asking for research $$ for a cure."
He says he; "...doesn't mind scientists putting research for a cure on the back burner for now." as he says; "we have the most easily manageable 'disease' (!!) one could have.".

Now, maybe… Continue

The 'poor' Denied another service

I am 'poor' being on CalOPTIMA (California's form of 'Medicaid). But I do pay my bills, I have a little job and can eat, So I'm being both literal and facetious.

As of July 1st, My kind of people (Medicaid recipients) will no longer be able to get Dental, Optemetric, Podiatric or psych, speech et al in the Medi-Cal System.

I saw my dentist this last month, I have new glasses from April. but as a PWD, the podiatrist is a necessary part of my care. I think I'm a tad frightened.

Health care of the UK in the US?

I just read this in Bloomberg. Any thoughts or is it scary to you too?

http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601039&refer=columnist_mccaughey&sid=aLzfDxfbwhzs

Seems like their going to deem people as being worth saving by age and condition. Kinda scary to me.

Birthday mine

Live another year to tell about it :-)

They don't do this for a lot of others, but work even had a big cake there, I cut the first piece, and told the teammates to eat away, or the Gluco-pixies will carry me away if I take it home. YAY! They saved me from the rest of it.

My guy showed up to pick me up from work, carrying a big to go package of broasted chicken. The Chicken Box in Brea/LaHabra is soooo yummy! Despite best efforts to cover all the good food, I'm getting beeped at by my CGMS, but… Continue
