It comes from the natural Stevia plant and has exactly the same consistency of refined sugar. They don't test on animals and it tastes great! You can use it in cooking, coffee, etc."

"I agree with you that support of products that are not necessary and use animal testing is admirable.
I do believe that animal testing is sometimes medically necessary. Your humalog would never have been cloned had it not been for animal testing.…"

I think humalog is made by a recombinant DNA process. The insulin gene is inserted in E. coli. bacteria (apparently yeast can also be used)."

One cannot choose what treatment they receive at age 4. I use humulog currently which I believe is cloned from human cells. I try my best to get products from companys…"
"I'm curious as to where you draw the line on not using animal tested products. Even a vegan T1 must use insulin, and it was discovered after Banting and Best removed the pancreases from their experimental dogs."

Merietta said… - It's not that big of a deal, we just have to have a doctor's letter stating that we are cleared to drive and we have a special license with a red tint. The special license tells that you are either diabetic or epileptic. There is extra paperwork for the DMV people to do, and they are sooooooo rude about it!

- My job involves meeting with patients and completing a psychosocial assessment and assessing needs they may have at home and if they qualify for free services offered to assist them with their activities of daily living etc.. If they do not qaulify for free services I assist them with arranging private duty services.
I also set up services such as medication assistance, emergency shelter for homeless and victims of domestic violence, meals on wheels, Lifeline, home speech, occupational and physical therapy. I help arrange new primary care physicians, education on medicare benefits home health care, nursing home placement. For new diabetics arranging and appointment with the diabetes center. I also follow up after discharge from the health center to make sure they do not need further assistance. The list goes on and on...
Another part of the job is handling the psychiatric cases and arranging for either inpatient psychiatric care or outpatient care.
