Those were the days! I hope my experience doesn't happen to you (congrats on the baby BTW!), but at the end of things I was driving 1 1/2 hours to my endo every 2 weeks, the perinatologist every 2 weeks, the OB weekly, and having almost weekly son...

I've had diabetes for around 16 years (dx1993) and a pump since 1999 (10 years now!). I tried syringes, medi-jector (ouch!), pens, and finally the pump. I've had the MM507C, and I'm on my second MM Paradigm, the 522. I still don't have continuous ...

Maybe talk to your doctor or CDE about increasing your basal rates.

Maybe your Bolus for dinner was too little insulin, or your Basal needs to be adjusted.

I would leave the pump at home and just bring a syringe of insulin. I would worry that if I left the pump in the car and it was warm outside what it would do to the insulin. (I live in the south.) I would leave the insulin in the locker that is lo...

Hi there. This may not answer your question completely but I thought it might help. During the summer months we go out on our boat for 1 to 2 nights at a time on weekends. Playing in the water w/my kids out in the sun can cause a dilema for wearin...

I agree with the previous replies, I'm on my third MM pump and I've always used a Pump Representative. It's much easier.

They should seriously warn us...no, really warn us...not just the "May cause laxative effect" label...and sometimes there's no label! It may be a rite of passage for the young diabetic...I'm not sure. My experience was on a DECA trip far, far from...

Jessica added a discussion to the group Pumping Our Insulin
Okay, I've had this question for awhile, and I usually find discussions on how to bolus (or not) before taking a pump off for swimming. That is not my issue. I understand what to do insulin-wise while swimming. My question for you is, what do you...

Wow, this is the only first person account that I have read (started looking tonight!) of how the Omnipod is going and it's definitely food for thought! Glad it works...for the most part!

Hey. Thanks for the blog comment. I guess I do need to write some more positive firsthand accounts of podding because I really do love it. I guess I tend to blog only when I have to vent. Makes for a very cranky blog. LOL

The admin team has been talking about the A1c issues you mention - why we post it, how people feel about it, etc. For me, when I joined, mine was 7.1. I credit the community with seeing it drop over the last year - suggestions about bolusing, diet, support, etc. We are hoping to someday implement some kind of a community A1c tracker that would show the effect of social networking over time on our A1c's, but like you said, it's embarrassing to reveal that sometimes! If you want a good eyes-popping-out-of-your-head example, read my blog post titled "A-1-jeez.". I spent a decade with it over 12 (with my most embarrassing being a 15.4).

Welcome to TuDiabetes, Jessica. I've been here just over a year and am surprised how quickly it became "home." Glad to have you as a member. I totally used to have that pump - well, it was a 715 (not sure what yours is), but it was that color!
