About Me

Hey y'all!

My name is Jessica if you haven't guessed, but please just call me Jessie. I once owned and raised horses, and currently have one indoor dog named Jack, an indoor cat I call MeowMeow, and an outdoor barn cat, and a giant flock of chickens. I live in the middle of nowhere so my life is spent outdoors mostly. I was diagnosed February 11th 2003, and have hit quite a few stumbling blocks on the way. I'm a pumper, I currently use the Minimed Paradigm Revel 723, my first pump was the Deltec CoZmo, it's a pity they stopped manufacturing them! But now that I'm on the Minimed, I really see no other pump for me for the time being. I was also on the 722 until I upgraded recently.

I'm always here to listen if anyone feels the need to talk. I generally try to be a nice person and find it very hard to be mean. I almost always accept friend requests if you send them. In "real life" I tend to be rather very shy, which is something I'm trying hard to work on. I am taking Cartooning and Art classes, though I'm thinking now that I might want to think about breaking into the medical field, because I want to help newly diagnosed Diabetics. I want Type 2's to be able to get a chance at the same important diabetes information that Type 1's get. Still, I don't know exactly. I may be too shy and afraid of people to do so. We'll see.

Anyway, I can't wait to get to know you! Leave a comment! I'll almost always reply!

One More Month...

Posted on November 18, 2009 at 2:32pm 2 Comments

Just one month left to go until my endocrinology visit and my last visit with this Doctor. I love my Doctor, and I trust everything she says for me to do. Most of what I know about my Diabetes comes from her, and anything she's ever told me to do has worked. I'm going to miss seeing her, but I no longer need a pediatric Doctor. I'm kind of nervous about a new Diabetes Doctor, but very excited, I only hope I like them and that they are happy with my control. We'll see in about 4 months from now… Continue

I Couldn't be Anymore Thankful...

Hello everyone. I hope y'all are doing well. Here I sit in the aftermath of World Diabetes Day, worn out and so blissfully happy. I was able to attend the lighting ceremony of the Austin City Hall (did anyone else in the Austin area think that other than the Radisson, it was the prettiest blue monument in Austin?). I was able to participate in the Big Blue Test, I even got my mother to do it with me. My sister in law would have as well but she wasn't feeling well at the time. I got my Dad, who… Continue

I just don't know where this came from...

I haven't been on here in a long time, but lot's of things have been happening. Life's been fair to okay though lately, so I guess I can't complain. I've really been missing my brother and sister a lot lately, but going out to the cemetery has done me good. I can't talk out loud to them for fear of breaking down, but I still tell them how life is for me. It's nearly been ten years, but the pain is still fresh. My parents have been arguing more than normal lately, something that getting Diabetes… Continue

Diabetes... what can I say?

Posted on June 15, 2009 at 12:40pm 2 Comments

Yesterday I woke up at about 41. My CGM read 55. Great.[sarcasm] But that's besides the point. Apparently my mind was working right away then went kaput. Because when I woke up, my siren alarm was going off and it was annoying me, I immediately wished for five free minutes where I didn't have to be, think, or feel Diabetic. Things haven't been going well lately, but that thought stuck with me most of the day. Sometimes I can take five minutes to not be any of those things, but it never works,… Continue

So last night I was doing some research on disability and such, well, I ran across this one website, can't remember where it was, but I clicked the link that gave information on what Type 1 Diabetes is. Hey, I wanted to know what they said about it. So I'm reading along and it says this: "It is also important to know that Type 1 Diabetes and Type 2 Diabetes aren't the same," Cool, of course, good advice! But, here it continued: "however, some people can have both types and some with type 2 can… Continue

How am I? Well.... last month was very trying for me!! My doctor (endo) and I argued a little about my having to go to the county clinics to get my care because I don't have health insurance or a full time job anymore. I don't want to leave him because he is a great doctor and it has taken me ten years or so to find him... Anyway, it wasn't fun to deal with the county offices--- 5 hours each day, 3 days, at two clinics/hospitals--- just to get registered in their systems and get medical supplies!!! I kept thinking about how they needed to make their systems more efficient!! I am much better this month. Happier because I am back to eating certified organic foods (which have always worked better on me), exercising, and choosing to keep my mind positive!!

I worked at a day care before I became a credentialed teacher!!! I bet you like it, right? Kids can be fun and sweet! Yep, taking one step at a time and keep moving forward, I know you will become a CDE!!! Yipppeeee! (I'm excited for you!) I know what it is like to go after my dreams/goals and so I get excited for others...

So, that is how I am.... Rebecca {;D

awww Jessie, you're welcome. thanks for mentioning it =). anytime you want to talk I am out here. I have found that "life" doesn't care at all if you have diabetes, it just keeps on rolling. The idea is both comforting and callous to me, but I guess it is what it is. I am glad you found Juvenation and TuD, I really think that talking about this stuff with people who understand really helps. Cheers! and I hope you are having a nice weekend.
