I read so much about one or the other. I would love to know how many of us T1's who are using both. I suppose it doesnt matter if the pump is Omni or MM or indeed another pump. But being the human…Continue

New Pods and PDM

I am lucky enough to have the new "smaller" pod. I have moved over from the old kit. The Pump is great. But the PDM is calculating the correction bolus in a different manner. Has anyone else found this ?See More

Skiing with Ominpod and CGM

Posted on April 7, 2012 at 2:14pm 2 Comments

I have just got back from skiing for a week. It is the first time with the OmniPod. It's fantastic. I had a bit of trail and error on the first day. Once I had sorted out the temp basal it was a breeze. I ran at minus 45 % for 7 hours of skiing. The only thing I had to remember was to reduce what the PDM wanted to give me at lunchtime. It needed to be cut in half as well. I had one minor issue over 6 days. That was also dealing with large temperature changes. I adjusted when I was over 9mmol/L… Continue

Positive OmniPod comment - its great !

Posted on February 18, 2012 at 4:27pm 1 Comment

So just a positive post needed. I spoke to Ypsomed about the Pod failures. All good except no real help about the issues. I suggested that we ought to be able to return an entire box when two fail. Anyhow, just had a few days skiing in Europe. Very cold, -15c to -20c. No issues at all! Pod fantastic. CGM got a bit tricky due to body temp at times. But the temp basal drop for a few hours, like 5hrs, was great. No issue with hypos really. Obviously needed sugar at times, but all good. Best I…

Post Pod change rise in bg ?

Posted on January 17, 2012 at 2:31pm 0 Comments

I am sure that I have read about people who have had this problem. I didnt to start with, but now I am about a year or so in - I am getting this fairly regularly - how much do you need to compensate for in terms of Bolusing pre change ?? Anyone ?

Its not said, and we all deal with it very well, but I hate being type 1 diabetic.

Posted on October 1, 2011 at 3:55pm 8 Comments

I am very lucky on lots of fronts from the diabetic issues that we can all suffer from. I use a Navi CGM and an OmniPod. My Hba1c are 7.5% . However, it would be nice to talk to people who, for all theh wrong reasons, hate this disease. Its not as if we arent dealing with it 95% of the time, but then there are the odd few points when I want to give it to someone else, only for a few hours, but just a bit of time off. thoughts ?

Hi Jgos,
I can't blame the people who had bad experiences with the OmniPod. They have the right to complain. I just think that they should change their now apparently only mission in life(destroy Insulet). Maybe most of them haven't used other pumps yet, and they will soon find out that they all are imperfect, unfortunately.
Anyways, Insulet has some studies on the website, conducted by 3rd-party companies, that have some realistic satisfaction percentages. Obviously, I exagerated too with the 0.1% of unhappy customers. :)

Cheers,
Gil

Gos, Sorry to hear about the low man! I am usually pretty good during class periods where I'm teaching but there have been a few lectures where I stopped to take a break b/c I was getting major hypo and could tell I was starting to not make sense. I know w/ a meeting it's a different story completely and it's outside of your control.
Hopefully Friday goes better for you buddy!

Jgos! No I've never really looked into Redgrave's methods for dealing w/ T1. It may be something to look into though b/c I know he was a pretty prolific rower.
As far as my day job, I'm a professor. I teach radiography (x-ray/CT/MRI stuff) to technologists (the ppl who take the images, not radiologists). How about you?
