I am a T1 and usually I use a pump, but have used symlin while off the pump too (not long) but had to make those changes so if you have a question might be able to answer it in non pump lingo

Yes it is normal. Every time you increase your dosage you could get a full or ill feeling. I have also noticed the discomfort in the shot. I have found it is better in the belly than the thighs.
