Diabetes doubles your risk of Alzheimers !!!

Posted on September 21, 2011 at 1:55pm 5 Comments

Just read this article in a CNN link. Another good reason to keep your sugar in control.

(Health.com) -- People with diabetes are at increased risk of having a heart attack or stroke at an early age, but that's not the only worry. Diabetes appears to dramatically increase a person's risk of developing Alzheimer's disease or other types of dementia later in life, according to a new study conducted in Japan.

In the study, which included more than 1,000 men and women over age 60,… Continue

Confusing new Labs

Posted on March 10, 2010 at 10:33pm 1 Comment

Well the results came back and I am confused. My sugars have been eratic due to cortisone shots and going off my meds for a colonoscopy. My FBS was 143 and that was actually one of the better ones lately. Yet My A1C went from 5.9 ---> 6.0 . I expected to see a jump to maybe 6.5 or higher. How can my sugars be running higher all the time and my A1C barely budge ????

My TC was 170 but my LDL was 101 & HDL was 50, so I'm sure next week…

Need some computer guidance

Posted on August 27, 2009 at 8:42pm 3 Comments

It's been a frustrating night. I have computer issues and can't figure them out. My picture slideshow and my music player all of a sudden decided to disappear leaving a white box with a tiny logo in the top corner. Others I have talked to can still see my pics and the music player but i can no longer. I don't know what the problem is.

Tried reinstalling the music player and that didn't help. Then I deleted thins I didn't mean to and am struggling to get it back. I'm afraid to mess with the… Continue

Our Kaylee suffers no more !!

Kaylee dressed to watch Penn State in the Rose Bowl Game

Kaylee, our 5 yr. old Siamese cat passed on to Cat heaven after a horribly torturous week. She fell ill last Wednesday night and had exploratory surgery on Saturday. They removed some tumors from her pancreas.

( I am beginning to hate the pancreas ) They inserted a peg tube for feeding purposes. She was so week but we brought her home Tuesday… Continue

Joanne-What a beautiful family you have. Congrats on the new grandchild. Now you have 4. Correct ? Jim and I have been busy packing for our move to our new apt. The big day is to be Aug. 5. What a job emptying out our house of 44 years. Jim goes to a local thrift shop every week to take stuff we no longer want or need. We also give things to 2 young couples we know that recently bought new houses. I have been feeling OK. I still go to PT 2x a week. I hope you have been well. You look great in the new pics. Staying trim I see. Enjoy the new grandchild and have a great summer. Cat

Hello Joanne, It is great to be home but I get so frustated. I want to do something but then a reminder I am in a wheelchair. Medicare loaned me the WC for 135 days but they would not give me a walker. Idiots. How do I learn how to walk again without a walker. I went to a big charity thrift job and got a great one for $12. Nurse once a week. PT 3 times a week. I have been cooking the meals. I cam stand to shave shower dresws myself. The shoe on left foot is hard but I am getting there. T^hamks for yopu card and kind words. I got out May 22 my co-leader at TOPS broke her leg that say. Shw will be in Rehab 3 months. So Tops is leaderless. How is Joe? Anything turn up for him? Hope so. Take good care and thanks for your prayers. HUGS,Reed

Hi Joanne-Thanks for stopping by my page. It certainly did rain yesterday. Your garden sound really nice, we haven't had a garden in a few years. Now I don't have the energy. The move is going well. We changed our retirement location to one with lifecare. The first place couldn't promise an apt for us before 2 years. We definitely do not want to wait that long. So we hope to move in August. It is a larger apt and includes a den, private entrance and a patio besides the 2 bedrooms & 2 bathrooms. It is very nice. Also closer to where we live now which Jim likes b/c he is involved in local politics. We are busy clearing things out and donating to a local thrift shop.
I did speak to both of my kids on Mother's Day. Soon you will have another g-child. That will be exciting. Hope you have a great summer.

Hi Joanne. Thanks for checking up on me. I am just getting back into things. There is so much to read and learn. Stuff changed while I was gone, except for my friends they are still awesome.

Joanne:

You send the funniest (and weirdest, too) cartoons. The last two were side-splitters!

I'm so sorry to hear that you're having to work so hard. I'm glad that I don't have to worry about losing my job in this economy and at my age. It certainly was an advantage having to retire at 50!

Take care and try to rest some. I am not feeling so good right now and am running a low-grade fever. So, I suppose, I should go to bed early.

Good to hear from you! I am doing OK; although, I havr another little sore on the bottom of my foot from the really dry stuff coming off and pulling a small bit of the good stuff off. I hope this heals a whole lot better (and SOONER) than the last one (over a year!). I also had a heck of a time over the Easter weekend with a dandy case of the "trots." I went to the DR on Tuesday and he was really concerned. Took blood tests and set me up to give them "samples" which I really enjoyed!! har har har and NOT! We need to get to the bottom (ha ha ha) of this soon. I'm so sore that I can hardly sit for long!

I took the time to look at your pics. You can sure see that the apple didn't fall far from the tree with your kids. Beautiful family.

Take care of yourself.

Love Y'all Lots.
