A Type 1 Diabetic’s Perspective of Surgery.

Posted on July 31, 2009 at 8:38am 4 Comments

I want to say that I have proof things are getting better. I had so much anxiety regarding my surgery. I read about horror stories of other diabetics in the hospital and in the OR, and I was not feeling the love on the day of my surgery. I had visions of a tug-o-war with the admitting nurse over my insulin pump in the operating room, I had visions of the anesthesiologist removing my pump when I was unconscious… and other things of this nature.

I was scheduled for minor same day… Continue

Resistance is futile

I went to my cardiologist yesterday for a follow up to an appointment, which was a follow up from a mishap last year when I fainted for no apparent reason, and fell and hit my head. I seem to still be terrified at the doctors' offices, even though I have managed to surround myself with some pretty hip characters. My internist is smart (and also very attractive) and a great doctor. Her office is polite, sharp and timely, she has all my scripts, and I have no problems with her staff at all. My… Continue

Pumping Ireland - Spring 2007

“Sweetie, do you wanna go to Ireland with me”?

“Yea, sure” she replied and looked at me as if to say “in which century”?

Okay how about next week!

The guys working on the project asked me (at a very late stage) if I wanted to work on this particular design, and, oh yea go to Ireland a week from the day to present and do some planning and miscellaneous site work.

Never let them see you smile or sweat at work: I said “okay” but was already doing the end-zone dance…

we had a redo (don't know what to call it) of the site a while back, all the member's pages got reset, so if you had Irish castles or whatever for your background, they are gone. you can redesign by clicking on "customize" under your profile picture. the CT got whittled down to double digits, the most active members staying on. hey, that's really cool about the Insulin factory! get any free samples?

I lived with a frozen shoulder for about 15 years and when Amber found out she was having Amarie I went in and got it fixed on the right side. I couldn't hold a gallon of milk with my hand b/c it hurt my shoulder so bad to do so. Fast forward 6 years and now all that has went to my left shoulder. When they done the right one they had to go in break the shoulder bone then reset it. My rotator cup is 50% gone on that side too. I just didn't want that to happen to my left side so's when it started hurting like the other side did I went for about a year not saying anything then we found out that Brittany will have a baby in late june or early july so here I go again! LOL! Weeeell I want to hold any g-childI have and I just can't get my shoulder to working soooooo......... It's great to look at things through kids eyes isn't it??????? They look at things totally different fromthe way we do. I LOVE to look at things through my g-kids eyes. They keep us young! LOL!
