Hi Joe - thanks for connecting with me! Let me know if I can help you out with anything low-carb related. I've been eating this way over 2 years, and it works out really well for overall healthy & controlling blood sugars. I also have some tasty recipes on my blog at http://www.paleogirls.com. Search under "recipes" in the categories section :)

Hi, Joe.  Thanks for saying "hello."  I hadn't visited the site for a while, so I'm glad I checked in again.  There's a lot of interesting information on here.

Joe,
I noticed on an earlier post from ypu, you were discussing the P90X program. If you don't mine me asking, how did it work for you with T1.? I am contemplating it.
Thanks!
Rick

Joe, thanks for the friend add. It's cool to see somebody who's had diabetes for such a length of time. I'm on year twenty-eight and, like you, still injecting. Keep in touch.

I eat a low carb. low fat diet--chicken, fish once in awhile some meat. Vegetables that are low gylcemic--broccolii, cauliflower.asparagas, green beans, salad, pepper, artichokes, spinach, humus, nuts--almonds, walnuts blueberrries, strawberries handful. Olive oil is the main fat added when cooking. I use a low carb tortilla for my sandwich from the la Tortilla factory. Eggs once in a while or egg whites. On weekends I eat out and may have a piece of bread and take extra insulin.
I run four miles a day usually and weight train four times a week. If I find I am over 140 two hours after a meal I do half mile or a mile on the treadmill or go for a brisk walk.

My goal is 100 or less in morning (occasionally I do not meet my goal) and 140 two hours after a meal.
To develop a diet for you just test before a meal and two hours after and see what combinations work. You maybe able to add more carbs based on your weight, activity etc. I prefer to not eat anything "white" and I have found that I have been able to keep my A1C below 6 for many years. I am taking levemir and novolog. I take novolog with meals that I know are higher carb. Hope that was helpful.
