I wonder when enough people will realize that MM is scamming people with their CGM and demand accountability? Like, you know, complaining to the FDA and stuff like that? Is there a group for former MM users who were more than displeased with the d...

I'm so pleased with my glucose control!

Ever since going on the pump my life has changed. I can't wait to see what my HbA1c will be...but that will be next month. Here's a snapshot of the past two weeks...those highs were because of eating out with my office group because of a couple of celebrations...always very difficult to bolus for restaurant food...and I erred on the side of caution.

My first impressions with an insulin pump

Posted 06/22/2009

See updates below

I started on the Minimed Paradigm 722 with Continuous Glucose Monitor on Thursday and it has been 3 days and 4 nights so far.

The insulin pump:

Very easy to bolus and correct high BG readings. This is about the only positive thing I can say about the insulin pump. When I was on Lantus + Humalog, I never bothered to correct if my BG was <=200 mg/dL. I always relied on my Lantus to eventually bring it down to an acceptable range. I a… Continue

How long did it take you to go from talking to your doc about pumping and getting a pump?

I talked to my doc about getting a pump last week. Two days later my insurance approved and I got the pump yesterday. Later today I have pump training.

Having been on MDI for almost 10 years and losing control over the years (last A1C was 8.9) I always resisted going on the pump because I don't like the idea of being constantly connected to a medical device - I picture myself as a patient at a hospital walking around with a tube running into the arm and dragging the IV pole along. I thought Lan… Continue

Hey John -- what was your experience with switching from the mm cgm to dexcom? Did you do it through dexcom or return your minimed one... or what? Since I am on the verge of doing the same... I've had my mm cgm since august and HATE IT.

John, A few months ago I purchased a Pentax k2000 (it comes with a standard 18-55mm lens). It has been an awesome camera. I am thinking about buying the next upgrade lens which would be a 200mm, hmm. What camera do you use? Which lens do you find meets your needs the most?

Hello John - noticed you'd replied to my dribble I'd written about in response to your distaste in blog spammers like myself . No offense taken, this is what makes our world the way it is, dull if everyone agreed on things! Now, can you tell that I'm a polite Canadian or what? Tho' I am an expat from England - but I was a wee little girl when I was pulled away from my dish of mashed bananas & bread and forced on a boat headed to the port of Montreal. You'll have noticed, since you replied to my response to you, I had deleted it. Sigh, it had such a good link of a cow chewing it's cud - incase you missed it due to my deleting my comment - here it is - Anna contemplating life whilst chewing on her cud. Moooo!!! Take care - and great A1C!!! Isn't life with our pumps even better then MDI before!!!

John, Thank you for including so many links to older discussions for us to look at. It's very helpful, I think, not only for the newer people who may not realize we've talked about a lot of subjects multiple times, but also for those of us who've been here a long time.

LOL! I clicked on your pic and started reading down. I'm a type 2 and I swear my body follows the same pattern as all you type 1's! I sure wish I could understand all of this a lot more. I'm on Lantus overnight and a little in the morning and humalog that will switch over to Novolog when the vial runs out ( cuz it is cheaper.)
