My 11 (12 next week) year old son is playing AAA provincal Pee Wee hardball again this year and he is really watching his sugars and really starting to think about it on his own! I still go to all practises/games/tourny's but he is really starting to think of what to do and when to check all on his own!! YIppeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee for him AND his Dad and I. So he loves to pitch and is the teams "closer" and with his BS's being so greatly taken care of , thats right mostly by HIM! He made the city…See More

maureen said… - Hi Jolynn, thanks for adding me as a friend. We have a lot in common. My son is almost 7 and we live in Inuvik NWT and like you we are the only family in our town with a child with type 1...it's gets pretty lonely with no one to talk to who "understands" what we are dealing with. I find most people think it's just a matter of giving insulin and then you go about your daily life. I wish! As you know, it's alot more than that. We aren't at the pumping stage yet, but hope in a few years he will qualify for a pump. We are going to Edmonton on March 16 for our next endo appointment and more education. We just found out that the government is not going to pay for both myself and my husband to travel, so now we have to buy two tickets, one for one of us and for our 4 year old son. GRRR....anytime you want to chat, message me or find me on facebook. Take care and have a great weekend.
