"Thank you for this information, David. I was quoted by Edgepark and another company called Diabetes Center owned by Byrom Healthcare. I am looking at the omnipod and dexcom and not finding them directly supplied on the UHC insurance. The price for…"

"I have been using the Abbott co-pilot program and wondering about the Glooko too. I got a cheapo cable for my cheapo relion prime meter, but it didn't work, so I am loading this info in manually.
Can anyone compare the difference between Glooko…"
"Thanks for your comment about the a1c tests. Yes, there's room for improvement in both of these a1c types of tests, but I did get mine back by mail the first time and email the second time, within about a week each time. I've used a total…"
"Hey, saw your comment about the Relion A1C test. I bought two of them and sent them in about 3 months apart. BOTH were lost by whatever lab does the analyzing. I had kept the little receipt deal and in each instance, they showed no record of…"
"Yes! There are TWO a1c self tests that I found at Walmart. One is by Reli-on, a send-away test that was fairly cheap but took more than a week to get a reply. The second one is from Bayer and has two kits in one package, but costs about three times…"

I had a life threatening DKA with 880 blood glucose as my first indication of this illness with a cardiac response in the ER. I was revived in the ER and placed in a medically induced coma for nine days in CCU when my kidneys failed. I was placed on constant dialysis for four days with over 60 lbs of fluids pumped into my body. I lost over 20 pounds in the hospital, that made me underweight. I am still working on regaining my muscles and adding back the weight lost. I have had a very healthy lifestyle and was already on a gluten free diet with my son for over four years when this illness occurred. It has shocked my friends and whole family that this could happen.

Hello Joni! Thank you for having me as a friend :) I'm in Canada...in the southwestern part of the province of Ontario. I'm a wife of 33 years (hubby is also diabetic), mom to two grown children (one 28, the other 26), a grandma to 3 lovable little boys, a teacher, and before that an illustrator (still do some) and graphic designer....I speak French fluently, I read, history fascinates me, I paint, sing, walk, garden, ski, ride my bike....did I mention "read"? I love having friends over, I bake/cook, am an eclectic music lover, an animal lover...the ocean...ah the ocean...it speaks to me! Oh...and I have diabetes (and a few other things). Nice to have you as a friend!!! Tell me a bit about yourself and
keep in touch, ok?
Hey, saw your comment about the Relion A1C test. I bought two of them and sent them in about 3 months apart. BOTH were lost by whatever lab does the analyzing. I had kept the little receipt deal and in each instance, they showed no record of receiving it. This left a pretty sour taste in my mouth. Sure, it was a lot cheaper than the Bayer (and yup, the Bayer is definitely more complicated) but WalMart refused to refund my money. Bummer.
