- I had a life threatening DKA with 880 blood glucose as my first indication of this illness with a cardiac response in the ER. I was revived in the ER and placed in a medically induced coma for nine days in CCU when my kidneys failed. I was placed on constant dialysis for four days with over 60 lbs of fluids pumped into my body. I lost over 20 pounds in the hospital, that made me underweight. I am still working on regaining my muscles and adding back the weight lost. I have had a very healthy lifestyle and was already on a gluten free diet with my son for over four years when this illness occurred. It has shocked my friends and whole family that this could happen.

I'm in Canada...in the southwestern part of the province of Ontario. I'm a wife of 33 years (hubby is also diabetic), mom to two grown children (one 28, the other 26), a grandma to 3 lovable little boys, a teacher, and before that an illustrator (still do some) and graphic designer....I speak French fluently, I read, history fascinates me, I paint, sing, walk, garden, ski, ride my bike....did I mention "read"? I love having friends over, I bake/cook, am an eclectic music lover, an animal lover...the ocean...ah the ocean...it speaks to me! Oh...and I have diabetes (and a few other things).
Nice to have you as a friend!!! Tell me a bit about yourself and
keep in touch, ok?

Sure, it was a lot cheaper than the Bayer (and yup, the Bayer is definitely more complicated) but WalMart refused to refund my money. Bummer.
