Jordan - couldn't help but notice your comment on the A1c site about your doctor not wanting to give you a pump - TIME TO GET A NEW DOCTOR! Seriously, a pump will help help you control those numbers and you deserve the best treatment. Do you have insurance? If so, you need to call them or go online and find out some other docs in your area, then look them up on the web and check their reviews. You deserve a doctor who understands your needs and works with you.

Wow, that's tough, but at least you know you realize that you can still live a normal life and all.
I don't have much of a story actually...
I was diagnosed about 3 months ago.
My mom brought me to my regular doctor because I was drinking nonstop and I'd lost about 10 pounds in 2 weeks.
My blood sugar was 392, and I've heard much worse when people are diagnosed,
but yeah so then we went to the hospital... and that was it
At least, I'm getting the hang of it now, and i'm switching over to a pump pretty soon
so i'm hoping that will make things a bit easier as well

Listen to your BODY, it tells you when to eat, snack, rest, sleep and EXERCISE.
