How could he have made these? I imagine he was blowing this glass from above, holding the glass below him, in the air - free falling and twirling it to get these flowing shapes as they hardened. He started a glass blowing school in Rhode island an...

Yes! I wanted to go again and again to see them change in the light. I wished I could have gone at sunset. The colors less edgy... more subdued. Warn sun colors casting shadows. My view of this art was noon.

The glass pieces were all placed in the desert sand. A perfect place to display. The bright sun. In Arizona there is no rain, or hail storms to break them. In Minnesota with unpredictable summer weather this wold not be possible. They were grouped...

These would have a totally different meaning, depending on the time of day, and weather condition. Fancy these against a setting sun, or against a the dark grey skies of an impending storm!

Also LOVE caligraphy...done on the right paper...over a watercolour wash....awesome!
What I'd love, is to take a course in stained glass art.

For myself, I left Graphic Design when our children came along. We had hoped for so long to have a family, I wasn't about to jeopardize that in the name of advertising!!! It's at that time that computer graphics started to kick in (I'm 55), and I became a dinosaur...still illustrated on a freelance basis. I couldn't cut it now anyway...Graphic Design is much too stressful. I, too, am at times commissionned to do a variety of art related projects; but not frequently enough to rely on...and besides, don't want the fast paced life anymore, the chasing around, the difficult clients, the bounced cheques. This is fine for me!! Always been involved with children in some capacity or other as far back as my teens!
So they had you painting numbers on the pool eh?? That's funny, they'll milk you to death!! With me, since I'm bilingual (French), they had me doing translations & proofreading, though it wasn't in my job description at the time!!
I studied Graphic Design and Illustration at 2 different colleges, but both via the University of Toronto (Sheridan College, and The Ontario College of Art)...for a total of 6 years. My first job in that field was with the Eddy Match Company, as a layout artist making art camera ready...then began illustrating; doing the art for match books!!
One thing I enjoy doing, is to take old window frames, and strip them, give them a stain rub (blues are so nice) and paint on them whatever I feel they seem to be asking for!
Later Joy...love connecting with you! linda :)
