You could try to ask for diluted insulin made by you parents, and reservoid/pod changed every 2 days if insulin stability is a concern.

I want my boys on the omnipod but need some advice.!!
2 of my 3 t1 sons are ready to try a pump but don't want tubes. I have been talking to them about the omnipod for 2 years now!! Here's my ONLY concern...it takes 85u of insulin to start the pump. I have 2 kids that do not go through 85 u in a WEEK never mind 2-3 days. How much insulin do you go through in a month? Because we don't go thru even 1 full vial between the two of them. It was tough being away from Andrew knowing the challenges he was facing being newly dx'd. Was he eating right? Was he tesing like he should? Was he giving himself the right dose of insulin for what he was eating? Did he have everything he needed if he went low? If he was asleep, were his low's waking him up? It's been way too long since I added anything here...so this might be a long one...Here goes...
I have 3 sons. Andrew is 22. Carson is 10 and Bodie is 8. If you have read my other posts then you know about Bodie.
In June of 2009, Andrew was also dx with T1. What was such a shock to us was that he was 20 years old!! I didn't know anyone who had been dx so "late" in life at that point. I knew children...lots of children unfortunately, who had been dx with T1 when they were little. Our… Continue

Breaks your heart, right? About a year ago, as I was kissing Bodie good night and checking his BG one last time, he said to me...."Mom, I hope I'm not diabetic when I grow up."
