"I ran my marathon yesterday! 3:45 I'm happy with it. Blood sugar was a challenge....65 at start. I have never started a race that low, but I managed to get it back up and kept it up until mile 19 (which is all up hill until mile 22) it dropped…"

"ok Blueyes! Test before, during, and after. I totally recommend starting to workout in a gym. It's so easy to run on a treadmill, you can have everything you need right there on it. Water, juice, food, meter.... Start slow, with your pace and…"

"Okay so I'm in the works trying to get my insurance to cover the Dexcom G4...it said it weighs only 2.4 grams. That is freaking fantastic, so easy to carry on my long runs. I'm switching my meter to the One Touch Verio...well it was free…"

What's your favorite meter and CGM?

My insurance was just picked up by another company and my Contour meter of course is not their "preferred" meter. They suggested one touch, now I've used one touch years ago but I can't remember how accurate it seemed. Price only matters a little to me BUT my contour is almost twice as expensive...I honestly want the BEST one. Now my second question is I want another CGM I ran multiple races wearing my Dexcom Seven but I'm not a huge fan of it. The key here is that I do not wear an insulin…See More

Running in the cold

Posted on January 15, 2013 at 12:07pm 0 Comments

I just finished a 8 mile run and I'm having horrible trouble with my hands going numb AFTER my run. It was only 20 outside today, but I was dressed perfect. I didn't get cold until I was back inside. I do have Raynaud's...which I hear is common for diabetics. How can I get over this freezing feeling? It's almost like my body is in shock.

I want to hug and kiss my Dexcom CGM! I was teaching today and had a real fast random drop. OH boy I was able to have some super tasty apple juice....I have a hard time having juice unless I'm low. Dear God I love technology, I didn't even skip a beat....I don't think one person even noticed!

Marathon training

Posted on January 8, 2012 at 6:56am 5 Comments

So it's official....I've started training for my first full marathon. I've run lots of halfs, they're getting BORING! I'm meeting with my Endocrinalogist tomorrow to see what he thinks. I'm actually a little scared.....of my Dr, NOT the marathon, who knows what he's going to think. I have been spilling a lot of protein in my urine consistantly in the last 9 months so it's important to make sure my kidneys don't hate me like my stupid pancrease does. I've been feeling really amazing lately, I… Continue
