How long to wait to take byetta injection after having a snack?

I was just recently found out I am type 2 diabetic. So that being my endocrinologist prescribed metformin and byetta. I'm having a little trouble with getting on a schedule in the evening. Mornings are not the problem. But at night I seem to be take the injection at different times because I have to wait that hour after I take the injection to have dinner. Which brings me to my question if I have a snack before my byetta injection how long do I have to wait to take shot?
