i found another thing that raises my bs, and what else is new!?

Posted on August 16, 2008 at 6:51am 0 Comments

Yesterday I had a doctors appointment for my feet. i have the paltar fascitis thingee. I told him i can't take anti-inflams anymore since they caused my D, so he tells me the only thing he can do is tape my feet and give me a shot in each heel. Well, afterward i couldn't feel my feet, but that wasn't the biggesgt problem. I have had those shots in my shoulder and they didn't do anything but raise my bs. Which last night i ended up fighting all night long with bs;s in the 300's and over trying… Continue

Changing a Life Long Habit, One Hour, Day At a Time

I have been taking Chantix for a while now to help me quit smoking. The drug makes you physically sick you smoke while taking it.That can be a good thing as it literally makes you put the cigeratte out. So I have finally put them out and have stopped buying them altogether. Not saying the urge isn't still there, omg, it is still there sometimes. It is funny how you never think of how much you smoke until they aren 't there. All the times you unconsciously smoke becomes very much a real thing… Continue

Prednisone and high bg's

Posted on July 12, 2008 at 7:28pm 2 Comments

I had to start taking prdnisone yesterday, friday, for pain. I couldn't believe how high it has caused my bg's to go. I had to drastically increase my short acting insulin. It has helped alot with the pain and me being able to sleep at night. I got so tired of sleeping 2 hours then walking the floor for 2 hours before I can take another pain pill to help with the pain.I lost most of the weeks work due to never sleeping enough to not feel like a zombie the next day as well as still being in pain… Continue

new questions from a newbie!!

Posted on April 21, 2008 at 3:16pm 4 Comments

I have a question I havent' had a chance to ask my doctor or anyone yet. Here goes..sorry if it sounds dumb to some, but I really have no clue,.. what is frozen shoulder, as in how it relates to diabetes? I have my right shoulder that has me in pain everyday and night with no relief. They are now starting physical thearpy on it which i do not understand because I was told I had bone spurs and arthritis in the collar bone. How can therapy help these? Now because my right shoulder is so painful I… Continue

another day fighting the good fight

Does anyone ever get fed up with doctors who don't listen to you? You tell them what is going on with when they ask and they walk all over what you are saying and don't read what is right in front of them, of the notes they took the last time you were in there. My primary care doc listens to me (but you cna't get one doctor to contradict another one), but he did tell me that we would get a second opinion if the physical therapy for my shoulder did not help. I just can't figure out how physical… Continue

I'm so sorry to hear about your sucky insurance. Luckily, mine is threw my husband's. He has, what I thought, I was really good insurance. And it is, for the most part. I only have to pay $10 for 200 strips every 25 days. Which is better than my parents, which made me pay out of pocket, and never did reimbursed me. I just wish they wouldn't try to confuse everyone with sending 500 letters a months with a bunch of stuff no one understands.

Thanks for the comment Karen, and welcome! Wow, you are a newbie to this whole T1 thing. You've stumbled upon a great support here, and a great place for Q & A for those who have actually been there. I wish I had something like this when I started out 16 years ago this coming month.
