"Yes, though there are costs involved, but while I can still get around under my own steam, I like to do so. I overdid it yesterday and had problems last night, coupled with the sugar levels from over eating. When I am like that, I can't go out,…"

"Hi Susi. Beautiful day here, glorious, in fact. Well, one of the real problems I have had is that, since I developed diabetes (I think I was diagnosed in March 2008), I have been through 7 doctors. None stay long enough to get a true feel for what…"

"You're just not on the right regime of medication - no matter what kind of Diabetes you have! Your lantus is probably the right dose for night but not for morning. (I never had an evenly split dose.) Or maybe you need insulin for every meal…"

Karen Leigh replied to Karen Leigh's discussion 'ADULT ONSET TYPE 1' in the group Diabetes in Australia
"I think I should say this in case I sound like a grump. Here in Australia, I am fortunate to get subsidised prescriptions, test strips, insulin, and the needles for insulin are free. Without this, I would be getting no treatment at all based on…"

"Thing is, Susi, I wake up to low readings. This morning, 6.4. They would just send me home again. Morning readings were low in hospital too, so much so they checked me during the early hours in case I was going too low. Never did though. When I was…"

Yup, those shake things make you go high. I use fastacting insulin for everything I eat, so I can cover stuff. Do you like those lean cuisine or weight watcher frozen lunches/dinners? those might be good for you....and salads and just low carb and low sugar. I know it is hard. :(

Very warm and muggy here. Any plans for the weekend.

So tell me about where you live.....I have always wanted to visit
Australia. Seems so beautiful and very interesting.

I am not sure....you can go into "all discussuions" and scroll through. Or just start discussion or blog and ask....people with info and knowledge will respond.

How are you doing? All is well here. Glad it is the weekend :)

I do pretty well on my food choices.....I only have coffee an d milk and a sm banana for breakfast. Lunch at home is always sandwich (turkey or grilled cheese or PB and sugar free jelly) and a yoplait light vanilla yogurt and 1 fresh fruit....apple, or 15 grapes, or 6 large strawberrries or 1 cup blueberries, I mis the fruit into a bowl with the yogurt.

If I go out for lunch or dinner, I eat what I want...but I take fastacting insulin to cover carbs and bloodsugar....I take 5-6 shots per day....forever. I am type 1 and cannot live without insulin. It will come to you and you will have days where you are good and days where you are not so goo....it is okay we are only human and never beat yourself up about it!!!
