My first low as a T2

I've read numerous stories about lows and how it affects people, but until yesterday I had never experienced one myself. Being Type 2 I usually get highs. Although for the last month or so I have not gone over 200 and I stay pretty much between 110 and 140. When I woke up yesterday morning my BS was 81. I know that's not considered a low for most people but for my body it is. It caused me to have a headache and nausea. I didn't eat much for breakfast but did have some vegetable crackers and some… Continue

Frustrated with Doctors

Had my 3 month checkup last Saturday. A1C went down from 7.4 to 6.9. I was expecting to hear "good job, keep going, you're on the right track". Instead I got "you need to bring your A1C down below 6.5". I KNOW THAT! But awknoledgement for what I acomplished in the last 3 months would have been nice. Besides, my goal is to get my A1C down below 6.0. Then they tell me my blood pressure is too low and they are cutting my dosage of Lisinipril down to 10mg. Ok, but to be honest when they put me on bl… Continue

What has TuDiabetes done for you?

I figure since September is promotion month I'd throw this topic out to all of you. It's probably been covered before but it may be refreshing to hear some new stories.

So....What has TuDiabetes done for you?

By coming to this site on a daily basis, I've been able to focus more on my diabetes. When I first started coming here my BS was out of control all the time. (250-300). It has caused me to ask my doctor the right questions in order to receive the right treatment for me. By coming here dai… Continue

Floating images in the eyes

Right now I am experiencing floating images in my right eye. Not sure how to explain this accuratly. The images are silver almost transparent but wherever they are I can't really see. They move around and are not in the same spot all the time. It's almost like a brightness. I checked my BS and right now it is 96. (last reading was about 3 hrs ago and it was 110, fasting sugar this morning was 83). This is the second time this has happened to me. Last time it took about 30 minutes to ga away and… Continue

Aneurysm procedure was a success!!

First and formost I would like to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for thier concern, prayers and encouragement. Last Tuesday under general anesthesia my doctors went through the main artery in my groin and placed a coil made of platinum into the aneureysm in my brain. According to the doctors it was a success with 98% of the aneurysm filled thus considered a cure as far as they are concerned. Side effects were pretty severe as I had excrutiating headaches for about 3 days afterwards.… Continue

I remember my first low.It was 63 and my son grabbed a Pepsi from the fridge and almost poured it down my throat. Then back in March it dropped again because of the flu and I struggled to get it to normal levels.Fortunately, after about a day or two,my levels were back to normal.

I forgot about your brain. I'll just tell you that when mine happened, it was from tiny blood vessels that had grown abnormally around the retina that had hemmorraged. I had my first laser treatment that afternoon. I had a whole series of laser; this was about 25 years ago. Thank God I can still see well enough to drive.

Kathy, did you call the eye doctor yet and explain that you have floaters? When that happened to me (years ago) they wanted me to come to the doctor right away. It's very very important that you call him today.

I highly recommend the book that a poster put on your blog thread about confusion regarding T1 and T2. Also, another great book is Know Your Numbers by Amy Tenderich. Great insight as to how to slow down the progression of our dear disease, T2 DM. Welcome to tudiabetes, Kathy! You'll learn VERY quickly and be grateful for all the members here - I know I've learned SO much! Jill

Thanks for the kind words Kathy. I'm glad you like the diversity in my images. You would think after working with models for all these years, it would be easy to create a self portrait, but it's not. ;-) I don't have my bike anymore but I am hoping to get one again someday soon. I miss riding and feeling the open wind and the frreedom. ;-)

Kathy ... Thank You so much for the comment (about my son) ... we named him Kaiden ... we picked that name and then a few months later we found out that it is a pretty popular name ... not exactly what we wanted (the popular name) ... but with the way we spell it, it's still different :)

Hi Kathy:

I started spreading the word to my real life and online friends over 2 days ago. You know... little hints here and there. I got the nicotine gome on Sunday, and then let it sit while I smoked up the last of the carton of cigarettes I had. So when I woke up yesterday.... I just didn't light up because there wasn't anything to light.... the nicorette really helps take that twitch one gets way. You know the one...it feels like you'll die if you don't smoke a ciggy right away.

Anyway... I've told so many now... that if I even thought about starting up again... they would raz the daylights outta me!

Good luck! I hope you can quit soon... Join me if you like.... the more the merrier
