I think the leg would probably be the best place for the omnipod in a wedding dress. Depending on how you dress fits, the legs usually are covered by the material of the dress, and will be the least noticeable in the photos. I have never used my l...

I think it is my carb to insulin ratio . My doctor was concerned about me going to low so I think she started out a little too cautious. My blood sugar has finally come down, but it went low to 61. I think I will be tweaking my doses for a while u...

When I started my pump for the first couple of months I had higher sugars than I did without it. I hope this is not the way it is going to be for you, but it is for some. Don't get discouraged if it is, it will get better.

I looked with a mirror and it appears to be in my skin because it is a little pink at the insertion site. Maybe my rate is too low?

I can't see in the window the way my pod is facing, and my Husband isn't home to check for me. I put the pod on around 12noon and my bs was 150 and I checked before lunch it was 137 and after lunch 325, then I gave a correction bolus and 1 hour la...

Katie, I'm on the OmniPod, too. Were you high before you put on this pod? How long have you had it on? You should be able to see the little white cannula through the tiny clear window. If you can see it going into your skin, you should be okay. ...

I switched because I had a lot of issues with it.(pod errors, cannulas coming out, infections etc.). I didn't like being able to take if off until a site change either.I like being able to take mine off now for short periods. I thought it was great in the beginning until I kept having the same issues over and over again. But at that point I was sold on pump therapy because when it worked..it worked great and I got my A1C down even with the constant problems.
I was happy I made the switch though because I've been much happier with my Paradigm!:) But some people really love their OP's though! Just wasn't for me and I've heard other people have similar issues I had with the system. I didn't try other pumps out (even though my Endo was trying to get me to go with MM instead of OP at the time) because I was totally sold and excited about the tubeless pump that I didn't really care about any others at that point. So its a total personal choice in which one you choose(which features you like etc.) and that's why I say see if you can try them out first before deciding for sure. I hope it works out great for you whichever one you decide on!

Hi Katie, I read your comment in the "raw food" group. I haven't converted to an entirely raw food diet, but the majority of my meals consist of raw to semi-raw vegetables. Typically for breakfast I will very lightly steam my veggies in order to bring them up to room temp & typically include a protein, such as a poached egg or piece of poached chicken. I use fresh &/or dried herbs & spices for added flavor. For dinner, I often make a salad with raw veggies & some berries. For a dressing, I mix herbs & spices with a bit of extra virgin olive oil. I've only been doing this for about three months, so I'm sure the seasoned raw food eaters will have more advice for you.

Good to hear you're looking into pump therapy. I think if you choose to do so you will be so much happier and you will wish you did it sooner! I felt the same way about not trying it..it only took me like ohhh twenty some yrs to finally try it. My husband was actually the one that pushed me to try it and I'm glad he did!
I would just make sure you check out all the different pumps and see what people say about them especially at this site because it's so helpful. Ask the pump companies to test them out before you make a decision on which to choose. I started with the Omnipod but switched to MM..it would have helped if I had a site like this back when I started to talk to people about it first before deciding. But whichever one you choose it will be better then shots I promise..especially working as a nurse. I hope your insurance will work with you! :) If not, fight! I did and won! :)

Yes, the stress in nursing is what concerned me about getting into it since obviously that can effect your blood sugars in strange ways. But I know there are so many different areas in nursing I could get into if I wanted to.
I'm sure being diagnosed while in nursing school was difficult for you! How long have you been a nurse? I think being on a pump would make it easier on me if I was to do it. It makes managing things so much easier for me now.Have you considered getting on the pump?

Hi Katie and welcome! :) I hope you don't mind me asking, but do have any difficulty managing your diabetes being an RN? I know you often have long shifts. I ask because I've been considering going back to school for nursing.
