The Doctor pulls back that curtain and says "The Endocrinologist has DX'ed you type 1". OK Dr. What does that mean? Well they use to call it juvenile diabetes and you'll be using insulin to control it. We don't know what causes it, we think it may be triggered by a virus. A virus? OK, up to this point in my life my knowledge of diabete… Continue

My 1st anniversary

Well here it is my 1 yr. anniversary. Dx'ed with diabetes. I can't help but think how my life has changed. I've been reading the posts here and other sights. Eating has to be near the top of the list of changes. Of course I had to change the way ate as I got older, just had to eat less. Now whole different story, carbohydrates I loved them (notice the pas… Continue

1st there is a fungus, Aspergillus niger, from the fungus we get Glucose oxidase. This chemical is strongly specific for
beta-D-glucose (the type of glucose in blood). Glucose oxidase reacts with the glucose in our blood to form gluconic acid. Now the gluconic ac… Continue

Blood sugars. You will no doubt learn all the jargon, seeing as though you are new to the whole thing. Ever experience DKA Keith, I suppose it's something you need to go through in order to understand it. Chat soon I hope. You knw that Lord Byron fella, he had millions of Angels in his garden, apparently now they are tormenting him.
